Punknews Podcast for the week of August 17, 2010

It’s only the fifth week of the Punknews podcast and already, staff members are dropping like flaky little flies. Luckily, we’ve got awesome friends who are more than willing to help us out, so news editor Adam White and I were joined by Barrie of Generic Insight Radio on this week’s roundtable. Topics discussed include the Pennywise/Alesana Warped Tour confrontation, the controversy surrounding both The Suicide Machines’ reunion shows and Broadway Calls showing the door to bassist Matt Koenig, Crime In Stereo’s untimely demise and the Sex Pistols launching an official fragrance.

We’ve also got brand new music from The Holy Mess as well as the new project from Constantines guitarist/vocalist Steve Lambke, Baby Eagle. Plus, a track from Vultures United that ‘Org interviews editor Rich Verducci feels has been overlooked.

You can click Read More to stream and/or download the show, or subscribe via RSS or iTunes. Don’t forget to give us your feedback in the comments section or via e-mail.

My Chemical Romance complete new album

My Chemical Romance have completed recording their new album. The band worked with producer Brendan O’Brien on the follow up to 2006’s The Black Parade. Frontman Gerard Way spoke to NME about the album:

We just finished the album so we’re excited about that. It’s the second attempt at the album and we’re really happy with it. I don’t know that people want to make statements right now. I can’t comment on anybody else’s record but I certainly feel something in the air, like, people just want the truth and they don’t need a big story.

A release date has not been announced, but the album is expected before the end of the year.
