Virginia Beach, VA’s Rain Over Battle have posted a cover of Bette Midler’s classic ‘The Rose’ for free download. The band recently released an EP for Death To False Hope Records and is half way done with writing a new full length.

No Sleep Records has posted a stream of a new track from Frontier(s). The band is the newest project from ex=Elliott/Falling Forward frontman Chris Higdon and they released their debut full-length There Will Be No Miracles Here via No Sleep (LP) and Arena Rock Recording co. (CD) earlier this week. The LP was preceded by a two-song 7″ entitled The Plains.
My Chemical Romance have completed recording their new album. The band worked with producer Brendan O’Brien on the follow up to 2006’s The Black Parade. Frontman Gerard Way spoke to NME about the album:
We just finished the album so we’re excited about that. It’s the second attempt at the album and we’re really happy with it. I don’t know that people want to make statements right now. I can’t comment on anybody else’s record but I certainly feel something in the air, like, people just want the truth and they don’t need a big story.
Reax is hosting a new track from Orlando, FL power trio VRGNS. Their upcoming sophomore full-length for Kiss of Death, Manimals, is due out August 31, 2010 and will follow up 2008’s Miscarriage.
Don Giovanni Records act Screaming Females are premiering the new video from their upcoming album, Castle Talk. The new album is due out September 14, 2010 and was recorded at the Hunt Studio in New Jersey with engineer, Eric Bennet. It’s the first album from the band since 2009’s Power Move.
Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin will soon embark on a massive tour of North America and Europe in support of their third full-length for Polyvinyl Records, Let It Sway, released earlier this week. The group will first head to the midwest and northeast for a fortnight of dates before going to Europe for a month, then back to North America for a run back through the midwest and on to the west coast.
While in Norway for the Øyafestival in Oslo, Norway, Tom Gabel of Against Me! performed an acoustic version of the title track from their latest album, White Crosses in a canoe.

The three piece plays dark postpunk that calls to mind everyone from Joy Division and The Cure to modern garage acts like The Spits.
On Friday, August 27th Attack In Black will return to their home turf for pair of special shows in Niagara. The Welland-based band will appear at the historic Mansion House in St. Catharines, Ontario for an all ages show at 7:00 PM followed by a second 19+ set at 11:00 PM. Billy Bragg has announced a run of North American shows after his upcoming Bumbershoot appearance on September 5th. The legendary musician continues to support his 2008 album, Mr. Love and Justice. He is also participating in the Sound Strike Arizona boycott spearheaded by Zach de la Rocha of Rage Against The Machine and One Day as a Lion.
