Tegan and Sara to release complete collection

Tegan And Sara will be releasing a complete collection spanning their past decade (or so) of music. The release will feature two documentaries, six studio albums, one live album and thirteen music videos. The entire album will issued digitally via iTunes and also in a giant vinyl box set. Despite the band actually hailing from Canada, neither set is available to Canadians. The digital box set will be released September 21st. The duo added this with regards to the collection:

Our Sound Engineer Doug loves Frank Zappa. According to his rough estimate, Doug has purchased 75-80 Frank Zappa recordings. When asked (hypothetically) Doug said he would purchase the entire catalogue of recordings with one click on iTunes. If you, like Doug, have been hoping to collect all Tegan and Sara recordings (both audio and video) that we deem important, oh boy, are you in luck.

Check out the details here.

To coincide with their new record on Epitaph Records, Weezer have launched a “Weezer-ization of YouTube:”

To facilitate this free-form taping, they set aside two days in a Los Angeles studio with instructions that read, “We’re up for just about anything that can be filmed in the studio. The finished clip will be yours to release and distribute on Sept. 14, 2010. Acting, performance, interview, make-up, comedy — you let us know what you want to do and how much time you think it might take to film.” It was then up to the YouTubers-whose channels have millions of subscribers and aggregated well over a billion total video views-to write and produce the segments with the band.

Participants included AutoTune The News, Cyr1216, DaveDays, Fred, Hot For Words, MagicHugs, Mystery Guitar Man, Onision, Ray William Johnson, Real Annoying Orange, StSanders aka Kiss Shreds, Tay Zonday, The Key of Awesome, UsofAnderson and KeepTheHeat.
