Exclusive: Dead to Me retools lineup, heads to Europe

Dead to Me debuted their new lineup last night at an impromptu house show in Orlando, FL. Among the band’s new members are Sam Johnson (VRGNS, No Friends, New Mexican Disaster Squad) on guitar and vocals in place of Nathan Grice, who is no longer with the group. Grice notably contributed a fair amount of songwriting and vocals to the band’s 2009 full-length African Elephants. Also new to the ranks is Enemy You guitarist Ken Yamazaki.

The band and their new lineup begin a lengthy tour of Europe tonight in Gutersloh, Germany. To coincide with the tour, they’ll be issuing a new 7-inch on Dutch label Shield Recordings. The three song 7-inch is titled Wait For It and will include the title track as well as “Attack Form” and “Pay Stub.”

Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days Updated

An update for Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days has been released. The update will be applied automatically when your Steam client is restarted. The major changes include:

  • Voice chat volume slider (frontend and in-game), which was previously unmutable.
  • Voice chat microphone enable/disable option (frontend and in-game). *Note: disabled by default!* This was done so that people without microphones but wrong (default) Steam settings don’t send out feedback noise from their machines. People who actually have a microphone will have to re-enable this after the upgrade.
  • Fixes in sound to hopefully prevent crashes on startup regarding OpenAL
  • Fixes in lobby behavior to prevent players from crashing

Equal Vision signs Wild Orchid Children (ex-Gatsbys American Dream)

Equal Vision Records has signed Wild Orchid Children. The band features two members of Gatsbys American Dream, one from Forgive Durden and one ex-Acceptance member. The band’s debut record is titled The Wild Orchid Children Are Alexander Supertramp and is due out November 9, 2010 via Equal Vision.

The band recorded nearly half of the album at The Tank Studio in Black Diamond, WA with Tom Pfaeffle during Spring 2009, Wild Orchid Children took a short break from recording to head out on a five-week tour. Upon returning home, the band learned that Pfaeffle, their friend and producer, was fatally wounded. After taking time to heal and collect themselves, the band headed back into the studio in February 2010, with Pfaeffle’s sound engineers, determined to finish the album. The final record was later mixed by Chris Common [drummer, These Arms Are Snakes] at The Red Room in Seattle, WA.

Check out music on their MySpace page.

Punknews Podcast: The week of September 7, 2010

Autumn is unofficially upon us, and with that the Punknews Podcast rolls into the season with a roundtable discussion featuring news editor Bryne Yancey, interviews editor Rich Verducci and copy editor Jesse Raub that unsurprisingly yielded triple the amount of unfunny jokes we normally have on the show.

Among the stories we discussed were We Are The Union’s van accident and aftermath, Propagandhi’s activist work and aesthetic, Tom Delonge’s comments on the new Blink-182 album, Epitaph’s plans to release the Jackass 3D soundtrack, and Green Day’s new song and upcoming live album.

Not only that, but this week we have brand spankin’ new music from Screaming Females, Torche and Nobunny.

You can click Read More to stream and/or download the show, or subscribe via RSS or iTunes. Don’t forget to give us your feedback in the comments section or via e-mail.
