In perhaps one of the more unusual pairings in recent memory, Ben Cook of Fucked Up and Young Governor engaged in a drum-off with Nick Jonas of the Jonas Brothers as part of Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam, the latest tween film centred around the Disney pop trio. Cook says only this “extra work can be very funny.” The film was shot in Toronto, Ontario which Cook calls home.

Rise Against will be releasing a new DVD, Another Station: Another Mile, on October 5, 2010. The DVD features performances of 14 songs recorded in locations throughout the world. These performances are interspersed with interviews with each band member of the Chicago based band revealing the creative process that goes into making a Rise Against song and the history of each individual band member. The band’s introduction explains the title:
Since we put together our last DVD, the snowball that is Rise Against is still gathering size and speed. What you hold in your hands is the continuing story of our band, what it means to us, and what it means to people like you. At our request, all the live footage you see in the DVD is completely unedited; meaning we didn’t go back and fix or re-do anything. We felt it should stand or fall on its own merit, and be embraced for what is, which is live music. Who knows, maybe we’ll feel differently next year. But for now, the moments are captured raw as we make our way to another station: another mile.
Screeching Weasel recently wrapped up work on demos of material for their next album. The band is recording with All American Rejects guitarist Mike Kennerty. Drummer Adam Cargin posted this on his twitter:
Had a great time working with [Mike Kennerty] on the Weasel demos. He is a total pro+one of the nicest guys I’ve worked with. Can’t wait for round 2.
Frontman Ben Weasel also added:
[Mike] is a terrific producer. He makes the songs better without fucking them up. He makes me feel safe. And special. And loved.
Billy Bragg spoke to Billboard about his next album and follow up to 2008’s Mr. Love and Justice. He is currently collaborating with Rosanne Cash who he calls “a great songwriter [and] a really whipsmart person.”
He and Cash are currently exchanging bits of songs and having producer Joe Henry “collate [them] into something we’ll enjoy.” He compares his collaborations here with his previous work with Wilco when he worked with the band to adapt unrecorded Woody Guthrie lyrics into the two Mermaid Avenue albums.
