Canada’s Silverstein have announced their departure from their longtime home at Victory Records and the fact that they have begun work on their fifth album:

I’m glad to hear you guys are stoked for a new album from us, but the only thing true about what was reported is that we ARE working on new music. Our new record will NOT be called Set This All Ablaze, and we have left Victory Records. We have never been more excited for everything going on with Silverstein right now.

The band last released Shipwreck in the Sand. We spoke to vocalist Shane Told about the record last year.

Cave In have revealed the details for their upcoming odds and ends collection entitled Anomalies Vol. 1. It’s due out December 14, 2010 via Hydra Head Records. Once out, it’ll follow-up Anomalies Vol. 2: Live at Mazda Palace, Milan, Italy 10/27/03. The album includes three originals and covers of songs from Bad Brains, The Cure, Codeine and Black Sabbath.

The band has been hard at work on a new full-length entitled White Silence as well.

Saves The Day have completed recording their long-awaited full-length Daybreak; no other details are available as of yet, but we’ll keep you posted. Guitarist Arun Bali announced the news through his twitter account, noting that the band had spent 498 days working on the album.

Daybreak wraps up the trilogy that began with 2006’s Sound the Alarm and continued with Under the Boards in 2007. Daybreak was meant to conclude the narrative in 2008 but various trials and tribulations have delayed its completion until now. The band recently released a stopgap EP entitled 1984.

The latest track unveiled from the upcoming Bad Religion tribute Germs of Perfection comes from Guttermouth in the form of their rendition of “Pity.” The track originally appeared on BR’s 1982 debut full-length How Could Hell Be Any Worse?. Head to Guttermouth’s MySpace page to hear the track.

• An individual concerned by the arguable quality of recent Weezer music wants to raise $10,000,000 for the band to break up
• Less Than Jake streamed their new covers project the TV/EP
• Kris Roe of The Ataris responded to some recent online criticism
• Boy Sets Fire is set to reunite
• Blink-182 will enter the studio soon, as will The Offspring
• The schedule for The Fest 9 was released this week
• This week also brought more tribute covers of Bad Religion songs, including Cheap Girls performing “Kerosene,” The Weakerthans performing “Sanity,” and William Elliott Whitmore taking on “Don’t Pray on Me.”
