“9 Seconds” shirt strikes familiar chord

Jack & Jones, a European clothing manufacturer, has produced a t-shirt that bears a striking resemblance to the logo of long-running punk band 7 Seconds. The shirt, which is available, at least, in malls across Canada, depicts the cover of what appears to be a ‘zine called 9 Seconds. When the shirt design was brought to the attention of Side One Dummy Records, the band’s current label, representatives said “Yea, that looks just like a 7 Seconds shirt, wow!”

It’s not completely unheard of for a clothing manufacturer to use punk imagery in advertising. Just a few years ago, Nike was caught borrowing heavily from the work of Minor Threat.
