And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead launch new imprint through Justice Records

After a rather nasty split with their major label, And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead have joined Justice Records which will host their their Richter Scale Records imprint. . Interestingly enough, Justice Records is distributed by Fontana/Universal, the parent company of their former label Interscope.

The band will deliver their sixth full-length record (as yet untitled) in January ’09. Recorded in Austin, TX, the band tapped the producing talents of longtime friends Mike McCarthy (Spoon, Patty Griffin) and Chris “Frenchie” Smith (Sixteen Deluxe, Smog) for sessions at The Mob House and The Bubble, respectively.

Co-vocalist Conrad Keely adds:

This will allow us to seek the creative freedom envisioned by the founding fathers of our great nation, immune from the tyranny of the corporate ogre.

The band’s last record was 2006’s So Divided.
