Edmonton’s Wednesday Night Heroes have posted an update on the band’s current status. Their members are at work on various projects, none of which however will see the street punk act recording or hitting the stage in the immediate future:

Luke “the manimal” MacKinnon, bassman extrodinaire is moving out to Ontario to learn how to make wine, we’re all super stoked for him as he has managed to find a way to make partying a career. He will be missed, but when he returns I’m sure we’ll find a way to get his ass on the stage to rage.

While Graeme is doing No Problem, Jay and Konrad as well as long time roadie and bro-t’ill-death Banzai Bri have decided to do a really great project called Fever Island. It’s a Naked Raygun tribute band and if you are a fan of the seminal Chicago beast than you should check’em out when you can. They do bad ass verisons of classic Raygun tunes like Treason, Entrapment, I don’t know, knock me down, Rat Patrol and Vanilla Blue as well as every hit you can think of. Seeing Kon and Jay shred is a treat so make sure you can catch them.

The band’s most recent full length was 2007’s BYO released Guilty Pleasures.

PJ Bond has announced a month-long run of dates in September. Most of the shows will be happening along the east coast with a few in the midwest toward the end of the run.

Neil Hennessy (The Lawrence Arms, Smoking Popes, The Falcon) has posted an update regarding his latest project, Council Trail and why there’s still no music to be heard from the group:

“I wanted to let you in on why there is still no music on this page. The reason? The recordings I did with me on all of the instruments doesn’t have the immediacy I want. I’m in need of getting together with other musicians to throw these songs, and all of the new stuff I’ve been writing, around a bunch and figure out how to get them feeling like they should. I don’t want to put out music that doesn’t feel right. I had been busy with some projects throughout the spring, but I’m hoping to get Council Trail going this summer to be ready to play shows by the fall.”

Slayer will be releasing a new vinyl discography box set called The Vinyl Conflict. The limited edition album will feature ten albums on 11 discs: Reign In Blood, South of Heaven, Seasons In The Abyss, Decade of Aggression (Double LP), Divine Inter vention, Undisputed Attitude, God Hates Us All, Christ Illusion and World Painted Blood.

All ten albums have been re-mastered from the original analog flat master tapes and were pressed on the highest quality, 180-gram audiophile vinyl at RTI. Lacquers were cut and re-cut several times to ensure the highest sound quality. The individual vinyl discs will come in a standard, clear inner sleeve to preserve the vinyl, are then housed in high-quality litho-wrapped jackets, and then boxed in a hardcover slipcase. Additionally, reproductions of the original LP inner sleeve artwork were converted to 12X12 inserts.

Currently, Slayer is co-headlining the first leg of the American Carnage Tour with Megadeth that kicked off August 11 and goes through September 4.

Baby Eagle, the garage / folk project of the Constantines‘ Steve Lambke, is gearing up to release a new album this Tuesday on You’ve Changed Records. Dog Weather features 14 tracks with contributions from a number of musicians, including Shotgun Jimmie, Daniel Romano of Attack In Black and David Trenaman and Colleen Collins of Halifax’s Construction and Destruction. The song “Day of our Departing” is now streaming on MySpace. A tour of Ontario and Quebec is planned for the fall.

Everyone Everywhere’s “Fakin’ It” can be heard at their MySpace page, while “Augusta, GA” from Into It. Over It. is currently streaming at their (his?) MySpace page.

The split, which is part of Into It. Over It.’s ‘Twelve Towns’ series, will also feature one cover song from each band of the other band; Everyone Everywhere’s side will feature a cover of the IIOI track “Batsto” while Into It. Over It.’s side will boast a rendition of EE’s “Outer Banks, NC.” More information is available here.

A couple years ago, Punknews interviewer David Siffert walked into a bar in the middle of nowhere in Brooklyn. He had gotten lost on the way, so he was late. On walking into the show room, he was assaulted by one of the most glorious screams he had ever heard. He looked and saw a very small person, in a very red dress, holding a guitar, the head of a microphone literally inside of her mouth, belting out absolutely soul-crushing sounds. Meet Marissa Paternoster, guitarist and singer for Screaming Females and sole member of Noun.

Marissa has been extremely busy lately. Her band, Screaming Females, put out possibly the best album to come out last year in Power Move. This year they have already released an outstanding singles compilation, toured the country with Ted Leo, and had some serious van trouble. They have also recorded the follow-up to Power Move, Castle Talk, which will be released on September 14. Somehow this was not enough for Marissa, so she recorded her second solo album, Holy Hell, under the moniker Noun. In all of her free time, she decided to answer some questions for the ‘Org.
