The music scene is full of bands who claim to have a fire inside with their charismatic frontman, deep punk roots and catchy choruses. While the verdict is still out there, Los Angeles-based Scarlet Grey is determined to show the critics that they are different from the pack and their music comes from an honest place. Scarlet Grey frontman and guitarist Ben Grey spoke to Punknews interviewer Gen Handley about the new EP, Fancy Blood., why they are not an AFI cover band and their short-lived relationship with Jordan Knight.

Boston’s Have Nots have compiled a ton of footage from their recent run with the Dropkick Murphys into a new tour video. The band recently issued a vinyl version of their otherwise freely downloadable 2008 album, Serf City USA on Paper and Plastick. The band will be hitting the road again this July before entering the studio with Matt Drastic in August, and an East Coast tour with Swingin’ Utters in September.

The Black Pacific, the new project from former Pennywise vocalist Jim Lindberg, have set a release date for their debut on Side One Dummy Records. The band’s self-titled debut is due out September 14, 2010 Lindberg left Pennywise in August 2009 after spending more than two decades with the band. He was replaced by Ignite’s Zoli Teglas in February.

The band has also announced their first live show, and will be performing on September 26 at KROQ’s Epicenter Twenty Ten festival in Fontana, CA. They posted a two-song downloadable sampler yesterday.

The Rancid-scored documentary series produced by John Roecker (Live Freaky! Die Freaky!) is headed to a two-disc DVD release. First announced in 2008, the documentary is titled Everything You Wanted to Know About Gay Porn Stars but Were Afraid to Ask and features: “gives voice to the stories, stars, and scandalous secrets of the gay skin trade and honestly portrays what happens after the cameras stop rolling.”

Rancid frontman Tim Armstrong provided music for the series which was directed by John Roecker who has previously collaborated with Armstrong, as well as members of Green Day and others. The DVD is due out July 27, 2010.

Crankstrap Productions, the company producing the new The Lawrence Arms live DVD, have announced the track listing for the disc. Due out later this summer, the film documents the band’s 10th anniversary show from late 2009. According to the report, the disc will feature 31 songs total.
