Korn Covers EP, New CD

Billboard reports: While touring behind its recently released “Greatest Hits, Vol. 1,” Korn is already looking forward to its next studio project. According to guitarist James “Munky” Shaffer, the alternative metal acts seventh album is slated for a late spring/early summer 2005 release.

“On Jan. 2, were going to go back and finish writing our next album,” Shaffer tells Billboard.com. “Its definitely more of a progressive [sounding] Korn,” he adds, declining to divulge any tentative song titles.

After including covers on its Epic/Immortal set “Greatest Hits, Vol. 1,” Shaffer hints the Bakersfield, Calif.-based five-piece is working on a covers EP, with a tentative title of “Korn Kovers,” for a possible April release. [see full story for more]

Of corse, were still going to inform you about the other major news thats come out the past week as well as entertain you with our off-the-wall discussions.

We start the show off by comparing the DS to some of the other big xmas items of the past. Moving on from there, we get to the news about Half-Life 2 and Gran Turismo 4. After our lesson, the guys will tell us what some of the specs and capabilities of the DS are. Well also go through a list of games that you can pickup at the time of the DSs release as well as a couple to come out in the future. After the roll-call of games, well end the segment as Rich tells us about his experience with the demo of Metroid Prime: Hunters.

Now that weve gotten through the bulk of the show, its time to get to the Reviews Of The Week. This week, Hoss tells us about his all-time favorite game character, Kirby, as he reviews Kirby & The Amazing Mirror. Well follow that up with a live in-show review of Are You All That, a DVD interactive game. This weeks jam packed show ends with a bang as we read and answer your emails. Men of Valor Review

As you know, we are big fans of Battlefield. Not only are we fans, but so are many other gamers. Because of this, Battlefield has sold incredibly well. When a game does this well, you will see a lot of other game companies releasing similiar products. This is not a bad thing in itself. You just have to look a little harder for the diamond in the rough.

Is Men of Valor one of those games? Find out in this review of Men of Valor written by one of our own members, Henley.

Ozzy Bible

Blabbermouth reports: Despite previous reports to the contrary, OZZY OSBOURNEs upcoming box set will be called “Bible of Ozz” and not “The Prince of Darkness”, a spokesperson at Sharon Osbourne Management has confirmed to BLABBERMOUTH.NET.

The 52-song set, due on February 8, chronicles Ozzys career via his biggest hits and most memorable collaborations, while including a separate disc with 10 newly recorded versions of his favorite songs by other artists. This means that Ozzy fans can hear the madmans very own renditions of classics by the ROLLING STONES, MOUNTAIN, MOTT THE HOOPLE, KING CRIMSON, and others. [see full story for more]

So Long Battlefield

It was fun while it lasted. Thats right. Im giving up the ghost, so to speak. You see, EA has tendered an offer for all the outstanding shares of Digital Illusions (DICE), supposedly to give DICE access to gaming platforms currently in development. What lesson have we learned when EA buys a studio? Heres a hint. Take a look at EAs past acquisitions…

Origin – Ultima
Maxis – SimCity
Westwood – Command &Conquer
Bullfrog – Dungeon Keeper

Thats just from the top of my head. Where are they now? I would look for BF2 to be the last viable PC game put out by DICE, unless EA screws that up as well.

So long DICE. Its been nice knowing you. If you really want the full details, click Read More for the Press Release from EA. Continue reading So Long Battlefield
