Friday Night Fights – The Recap

I would like to thank everyone who dropped by for our Friday Night Fights – Custom Map Night last night. It was pure dumb luck that the 1.6 patch came out the same night as our event, but what can you do.
Even so, it was a lot of fun because you made it so. Our next event will be February 27th, 2004. Id like to thank the guys from clan {pdx} for dropping by.

We did notice a lot and I mean a lot of people trying to connect, but getting disconnected. If you installed the 1.6 patch, then that was the problem, but if you had 1.5 and had any problems, please drop by our Technical Support Forums and let us know what happened. We would be happy to help you so the next time you can join us. It will also help us figure out how why this was happening.

Ill give a quick recap of the maps, just click Read More… Anyone that played, leave your comments as well. Continue reading Friday Night Fights – The Recap

Kurt Loader does Manyard Keenan

More music news by way of MTV.com. This time around, Kurt Loader has a great three page interview with Maynard James Keenan, lead singer of Tool and A Perfect Circle. Of course, Im sure you already new that. 🙂

Even mediocre fans should check this one out. Kind of strange, but cool at the same time. Sorta like Maynard, himself. My favorite part is right up front, when he starts talking about his Free Frances Bean T-shirt. Here is a snipet:

Oh, yeah, back in 96, 97. Everybody at that time was trying to get us to do all these benefit shows — you know, like “Free Tibet.” And I was like, “Im gonna have my own platform: Free Frances Bean.”

Get it at, where else, MTV.com.

MTV Interview with Dave Draiman of Disturbed

If you are a big fan of the band Disturbed, MTV.com has a great article with the lead singer, Dave Draiman.

“In mid-December, Disturbed announced that original bassist Fuzz had left the band after more than six years, and posted a message on their Web site telling musicians how to apply for the vacant slot. Frontman David Draiman is currently narrowing down the field of interested players and plans to bring four to six of them to Chicago in February for tryouts.”

Friday Night Fights – Server Info

Just in case anyone needs it, the Name of the server and IP are in the top box on the left at all times, along with a link to players stats. One of these days, I will add a server status page and link it in the same location.

GamersRadio.com 1.5 Pure
IP is 69.56.247.38:14567

I was playing with the name last night and it currently says GamersRadio.com Custom Maps. I will fix that when I get home.

IMPORTANT UPDATE: If the 1.6 patch comes out tonight, do not, I repeat, DO NOT INSTALL IT if you want to play cusotm maps with us. I do not have time to get the 1.6 Linux server installed before tonight and I do not feel comfortable with running a new patch without testing it first. Besides, BF Server Manager has not updated yet. It wouldnt be a good idea to upgrade without the Server Manager.

There Is Hope Yet For A Major Oklahoma LAN!

Today, on the way to work, I was thinking about how much it sucked that ExtremeLan was not going to happen. I wondered what could have been done different. What would allow something like this to happen in Oklahoma? After all, this was the second major Lan party to cancel in the last year in Oklahoma. Then it occurred to me. All of the smaller Lan groups need to work together collectively to come up with a Lan they could all get behind.

Well, somebody out there must be inside my head and if I find out who you are, I’m going to hunt you down and…. Err….

Anyway, it seems a few of the local groups were already working on something like this. The website will be coming along soon, but the best information I can give is to check out the EdLan Group’s website for the current details on the 36 hour, 300 Man Lan. I hope this one makes it. Maybe with the Local groups pooling together, something really big can happen. Let’s hope ego’s, personalities and ulterior motives don’t spoil the occasion. After all, gamers just wanna have fun….!

PS PLAY SOME VANILLA BF42!!!!!!! PLEASE!!!!!!!!

World of Warcraft Beta Opens Tonight!

Hello Boys and Girls. The day you have been waiting for has finally arrived. Hot off the presses from the good folks at Blizzard:

At 6:00 pm PST on Wednesday, January 28th, the signup period for the World of Warcraft Beta Test will officially begin. We will provide a link to the beta-test application right here in the news section at that time. Testers are not going to be chosen on a first-come, first-served basis, so you will be able to submit an application and receive equal consideration anytime during the signup period, which will end on Wednesday, February 4th at 6:00 pm PST. Please note that multiple submissions from the same household will result in complete disqualification.

For this initial phase of the World of Warcraft beta test, we will only be able to accept applications from Canada, Korea, and the US. The test for Europe and other countries around the world will happen later this year. Please do not contact us for further information regarding the beta test; we will be posting a FAQ in the days ahead

Good Luck! http://worldofwarcraft.com/wow/

Extremelan Closes Shop

Only 20 days after we started talking about Extreme Lan, they had this post in their forums.

Despite our best efforts to get funding to keep the event alive after we lost our largest financial contributor, all attemps to get funding have failed. ExtremeLAN officially will be cancelled in the next few days, and everyone will be refunded as quickly as possible. Thank you all for your support, and we regret that we have been forced to cancel the event. I have lost entirely too much money at this, so I believe I will be out of the “Big LAN” business for good…

We are sorry to see this event go. In our part of the world, you dont get opportunities like this very often. It looks like that will continue to be the case.

The news story will be posted this Friday, after Noon with a link to the download.

We would like to thank -1313-Evil_Homer for all his help and support with this Friday Nights Fights – Custom Map Night. YOU ROCK!
