Half-Life 2 to require Steam accounts

Gamespy.com had an interview with Doug Lombardi in reguards to Valve Softwares Half-Life 2. This interview asks many great questions that are on the minds of gamers waiting eagerly to jump into the action of Half-Life 2.

“Will the boxed versions of HL2 require any sort of Steam installations?

Doug Lombardi: During installation the user will be prompted to authenticate the copy and create a Steam account. After that is complete, the single-player and LAN games do not require an Internet connection.”

Looks like Valve is taking a good step towards hindering software piracy with this action.

NDA Lifted on Everquest II Beta

As reported on the Everquest II Players web site, the NDA forcing the beta testers to not talk much about the game has been lifted.

“As of now, the NDA for the EverQuest II Beta is officially lifted. We encourage our beta testers to share the experiences theyve had in beta with the rest of the EverQuest II community. Many more people who enrolled in the EverQuest II beta program can expect beta keys in their inboxes in the very near future. In addition, in the past few weeks weve let the Legends and Lords of EverQuest players and we would like to thank them for their support. We now have 4 Beta servers up and running including 1 French and 1 German server and weve let in over 30,000 players since July. In the near future that number will grow far past that. Keep an eye on your inbox!”

We are looking forward to seeing much more information posted by the testers to give us a better idea on how the game is going.

Half-Life 2 – Another delay???

Well, GameSpot has an article talking about how Vivendi Universal Games has the right to hold onto the much anticipated Half-Life 2 for another six months.

“Court filings show VU Games has the right to sit on finished Half-Life 2 code for up to six months. Could it be deja vu all over again?”

Could this be yet another addition to the soapopera of Half-Life 2?
