A number of musicians have contributed music to a new compilation that aims to raise money to fight for Net Neutrality. The subject has been the subject of vigorous debate over the past year or so, with neutrality proponents arguing that all websites on the Internet should receive equal treatment while internet providers argue that they should be able to charge to prioritize traffic, thereby creating a first and second class of websites. One major concern of net neutrality proponents is that this will homogenize the Internet into a cable-style environment where only mainstream content will be able to pay the ISP’s fees while niche websites in music, technology and politics will be sidelined.
