Further details on Atreyu’s “Lead Sails Paper Anchor”

More details on Atreyu‘s debut for Hollywood Records have been announced. Lead Sails Paper Anchor will feature 11 songs and is due out on August 28th. The record was recorded this spring with Goldfinger‘s John Feldmann producing. Feldmann’s produced high profile records from bands like the Used, Mest and Story of the Year. The album was mixed by veteran engineer Andy Wallace (Nirvana, the Strokes, Rise Against, Thrice and a million others).

Atreyu‘s last studio record was A Death-Grip on Yesterday. It was followed by a retrospective of their Victory-era career simply titled The Best of Atreyu. The band will take part in the Family Values Tour this summer.

The Briggs live on the KUCI radio now

the Briggs will make a radio appearance today on the KUCI radio show Peace and Unity and Your Mom. Between 2 and 4 PST the group will be playing acoustic versions of their songs and chatting with the host. You can listen to the show on 88.9 FM if you’re local to Irvine, CA or listen online via KUCI.org.

The Briggs most recently released Back to Higher Ground in 2006 via SideOneDummy.

Tours: Chinese Telephones (east coast)

Milwaukee’s Chinese Telephones are headed out on a summer tour of the US east coast. The trek includes a stop at In a tour that includes an appearance at Insubordination Fest in Baltimore. The band will be opening the July 6th show at the Ottobar, setting the stage for the Unlovables, the Riptides and the Ergs! among others. Most of the shows on the tour will feature Dear Landlord (ex-Rivethead / Copyrights).

The band is supporting their new split 7″ with Dear Landlord on It’s Alive / Recess Records.

Voodoo Glow Skulls looking for horn players

Voodoo Glow Skulls are looking for horn players. They haven’t lost any players but are looking for additions “in the interest of keeping this band fresh and having a full touring line up after the new disc drops.” Interested parties can inquire via the band’s Myspace page. That new disc, by the way, is set for a September 18th release via Victory Records. It follows up 2004’s Adiccion, Tradicion y Revolucion and should run around 15 songs.

In the meantime the band has a handful of summer shows scheduled. A US tour will be scheduled for October, following which the band will return to Europe.

Tours: Supersuckers

Seattle’s Supersuckers are on the road this month. The Seattle band’s supporting their Paid EP with a set of dates that sees them criss cross the sourthern US then following the west coast home. The shows will be opened by frontman Eddie Spaghetti and Jordan Shapiro, playing songs from Spaghetti’s recent solo release Old No. 2.

Both Paid and Old No. 2 were recently released by the band’s own Mid-Fi label. A video for Eddie Spaghetti’s song “I Don’t Wanna Know” can be found now at YouTube.

Bob Mould to release DVD in October

Bob Mould, known best for his work in Hüsker Dü and Sugar, will be releasing a DVD this coming October. Due for release on October 7th, Circle of Friends documents the last show of the 2005 tour in support of Mould’s most recent solo album, Body Of Song. The performance, set at the 9:30 Club in Washington, DC, features a backing band consisting of Jason Narducy on bass, Richard Morel on keyboards and Brendan Canty (of Fugazi fame) on Drums. The set includes tracks from his Hüsker Dü days, as well as tracks from Sugar.

Mould is planning a January date for the release of his next effort.

The Lucky Stiffs part ways with Pirates Press, shooting new video

San Francisco’s Lucky Stiffs have said goodbye to Pirates Press records. The band is working on the followup to Gold in Peace, Iron in War, which was released on the label earlier this year.

The band’s also working on a video for the song “Letter” which will include fan-submitted material of deceased loved ones. For more info, check out their MySpace page.

The Failures Union, Mischief Brew, The Scissors

The Failures Union have posted two new songs from their upcoming album, Sinker. They’ll also be playing a rare show in Buffalo, NY on Saturday June 30th. For more details and to hear the songs, check out their MySpace page.

Filthadelphia’s Michief Brew are in need of a drummer. They’ve got a whole list of requirements and more information at their Webpage.

Bouncing Betty records have signed Chicago’s the Scissors. The band recently appeared on the Pop-Punk’s Not Dead compilation. BB records will be reissuing their recent LP VIVA, recorded with Matt Allison at Atlas Studios, as well as their unreleased debut Tijeras. Expect a new EP soon.

Consider The Meek planning 2008 release, split with No Use and Strung Out

Kev Lee of Consider the Meek has laid out some teasers for upcoming releases in a recent MySpace blog post. In it he titles the band’s next full length Above The System and estimates a 2008 release. He also lets loose news of a 3-way split between the Meek and veteran Fat-rockers No Use For A Name and Strung Out. No firm details for either release are available however.

The band will be playing as support for Marky Ramone on his September 14th visit to Taipei.
