Bad Religion has posted a studio video documenting their upcoming album. The record is titled New Maps of Hell and is due out July 10, 2007.
The feature includes a look into the recording studio as well as some comments from band members Greg Graffin and Brett Gurewitz. Brett also reveals the secret of “good rock.”
Paint It Black have psoted another update with lyrics as they continue to work on their upcoming third album. As reported earlier, the album will be co-produced by J. Robbins and Oktopus (aka Alap Momin).
The band had this to say in an update:
What’s up everyone. We are hard at work obsessing over new material. We tape all our practices, then listen to the tapes a million times, and then go back to the lab, fix what’s broken, and make new tapes. This process keeps repeating. Fun and intense, but easy to get stuck in your own head after awhile.
Been getting some emails lately about posting more lyrics, so here goes. This song is about growing up in america and the failures of capitalism, growing up a rebel and the failures of punk music/culture. And of course, the failures we sometimes encounter in individual human relationships. Failure doesn’t mean that we stop trying. “It means brush the dirt off, get up and try again.” Please read the note that comes after. It’s really important:
Yellowcard has posed another new track from their upcoming full length. The record is titled Paper Walls and is due out July 17, 2007. It is the follow-up to Lights and Sounds which was released in 2006.
The band has reportedly produced covers of tracks from Elliott Smith and Tom Waits to appear exclusively on the first European single. For the US album, a bonus disc featuring Billy Idol’s “White Wedding” will be produced.
Escapist Records has officially signed Bay Area hardcore/punk band Love, Hope and Fear. The band previously released an EP on State of Grace Records and self-released a full-length last year. Escapist Records will release a four-song 7”/digital EP entitled Fate’s Frowned on Us later this month.
The effort was recorded at Castle Ultimate Studios with Zach Ohren (Killing the Dream, Life Long Tragedy) and features original art from Curt Baer of Set it Straight. Those unfamiliar with the band can preview material from the band online here.
Today, the band – or at least someone representing the band – launched http://www.ratm82407.com/, which includes two countdowns. The first counting down to next Monday. The second is counting to August 24th, 2007. While there is no definitive news on what it could be, the domain name information suggests that the band could be gearing up for a major tour, since the site is owned by Live Nation, a major tour promoter. According to blogsite tmz, Atlanta-based pop-rockers Cartel suffered a scare recently when the giant transparent bubble they’re currently living and recording their new album in busted open.
As a publicity stunt/means to recording, the band set up living quarters and a studio inside the giant bubble, located on New York’s Pier 54. The entire thing is being webcast via a series of tubes, which is likely where TMZ obtained video footage of a plate glass window shattering inside the bubble. Video is available directly from the sponsors, but requires registration and proof of purchase.
Tropical Storm Barri is to blame for the incident, which gave the band and their mothers (who were inside the bubble cooking dinner for the boys) quite a scare.
The stunt is sponsored by Dr. Pepper and the recording is being broadcast on MTV in a four-part special. As reported earlier, some people aren’t fans of the idea and find the whole thing pretty reprenhensible. Music industry guru Bob Lefsetz said:
Ever heard of Cartel? Not me. But I’m sure they can’t be making music I’m interested in. Music comes from inspiration, not marketing plans. Whoever convinced the act to be involved in this stunt.. should be exiled from the business immediately.
