Recording updates from Jimmy Eat World

Jimmy Eat World Jimmy Eat World is in the final stages of work on their sixth studio album and follow up to 2004’s Futures and 2005’s Stay on My Side Tonight EP.

Frontman Jim Adkins explained:

We have a mix date set for May 28th. Yes, there is light at the end of the proverbial tunnel. We just spent a week in Los Angeles tweaking out a few songs and stalking Tony from Sparta (we know what Starbucks you go to now, homz).

We re-cut drums and bass for a song called “Here It Goes” with producer, John Fields. We will be working on art and getting all our new stage costumes together soon. How does human size banana suits sound? People would definitely ask us less questions about emo then.

This album is being produced by Butch Vig (Nirvana, The Smashing Pumpkins, Sonic Youth, Against Me!)

Plus 44 promises Blink-182 covers on tour

Though the band had originally sworn off the idea of performing songs by their former band, the two members of Blink-182, Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker, have reconsidered and have decided that they will be performing tracks while touring as Plus 44. Mark explained:

For the past year and a half we have been saying how +44 will never play Blink-182 songs. In interviews, when people ask about it, we say it won’t happen, we think it’s lame, etc. Last week we changed our minds. And tonight during our set we played “What’s my Age Again.” You see, Travis and I love our history with blink-182, and it seems a shame to let those songs sit dormant forever because of what happened two years ago. And that song is so much fun to play. So why not? It was awesome to play that song live again. We’re having the time of our lives out here. See you at the shows.

The group is supporting their debut album, When Your Heart Stops Beating, on the 2007 Honda Civic Tour.
