Blue Cheer and An Albatross will be heading out on tour together early next month. The bands will see support from Doomriders, Stephen Brodsky’s Octave Museum, and Del Rey on various dates.

Social Distortion have added more dates to their recently announced tour of the West Coast. In addition to the previously announced Canadian dates, the long-running band will be hitting California for a few dates.

The group has also announced that I Hate Kate and The Black Halos will be supporting them on the trek. Social D was in the studio as recently as this past December working on the follow-up to 2004’s Sex, Love and Rock ‘n’ Roll. There’s no word yet on when the new record will be released.

According to Undercover.com.au, the Living End will begin recording a new album soon. Bassist Scott Owen notes, “we’re going to start making a new album at some point this year, so we’ll stop and start thinking about that very shortly.”

The band released State of Emergency last year through EastWest / Adeline.

Riverboat Gamblers have unfortunately been robbed again. The last incident occured in October in Austin, Texas and happened yesterday in Montreal, Quebec.

The band had this to say:

Our van was broken into last night in Montreal… They broke our driver side window and stole Ian’s guitar and Fadi’s backpack with his passport The window was 500 bucks alone to fix…

The band is currently on the road with Against Me! and Fake Problems.

Death Before Dishonor have announced that prior to the release of their Bridge Nine debut LP Count Me In on May 22nd, the band will release a limited edition 7″ and digital EP entitled Break Through It All. The EP will be released April 3rd and will feature the songs “Count Me In”, “Break Through It All” and the B-side cover of Cocksparrer’s “England Belongs To Me” with guest vocals from Blood For Blood’s Buddha.

The band will embark on a short tour with Casey Jones later this month.

Off With Their Heads have dropped us a line letting us know “what’s up.” Well, what’s up is they are in the midst of a West Coast (US) tour and they have a few new songs up and some new releases on the horizon.

The tracks “Havenhurst” and “Fuck This, I’m Out” will be featured on splits with Blotto and Practice, respectively, on Snuffy Smiles records in Japan. The band is heading over to Japan this summer after the release of the two 7″‘s in May. “I Hate Myself and I Hope I Crash My Car Tonight,” the third track, will be on a split with The Dukes of Hillsborough from Tampa set to be released by ADD Records in April.

Also this May, the band will be on a 12″ four-way split with Drinkers Purgatory (LA), The Underground Railroad to Candyland (LA), and No People (Japan). This will be out on LA label Small Pool Records.

This flurry of activity follows their Recess-released Hospitals EP.

Darkest Hour have set a title and approximate release date for their upcoming full length. The record, titled Deliver Us is the follow up to 2005’s Undoing Ruin and has the band once again working with the strapping young producer, Devin Townsend.

Guitarist Mike Schleibaum notes:

Working with Devin this time has been sick as hell. We have worked long hours on these songs and, honestly, our hands, legs and bodies haven’t hurt from playing so much since we can remember. We are truly stoked to present these songs on this record. It is some of our most complex, melodic, brutal, and aggressive songs to date. There’s some punk, metal, thrash, shred, prog, and even a little of Devin Townsend’s special sauce mixed in this metal gumbo

The band has also launched the first in a video series documenting the process.

Ted Leo And The Pharmacists have a new e-card featuring two songs, live footage and more. The band is gearing up for the release of their Touch and Go debut. The record, titled Living With the Living, is due out March 20, 2007

Living With The Living, the follow up to 2004’s Shake The Sheets, was produced by Fugazi‘s Brendan Canty and is due in stores on March 20th. We posted the artwork and track listing earlier this month.

Set Your Goals have posted an update regarding the progress of their DVD:

Hey guys, first off, an update on the Work In Progress DVD that was rumored to come out this Spring of 2007. Due to use of copyrighted materials in the feature, Eulogy Recordings (by law) is unable to release the band produced project until we recieve clearance on each of the non-SYG songs we’ve used in the edit. We are currently working with several people on this matter, and hope to get this “Video Scrapbook of 2006” out to you guys by the end of the year.

In the meantime, the band has decided to produce a live DVD during the California week of shows on their upcoming tour with Anti-Flag. The band hopes to get this DVD out by their Warped Tour run (June 28 – July 15).

The band continues to tour in support of 2006’s Mutiny!.

A number of dates have been announced for the upcoming tour featuring the Methadones and the Copyrights. The trip takes them through the sunny mid-west this May and over to the Northeast.

The Methadones will be supporting their recently released power pop cover album 21st Century Power Pop Riot, whereas The Copyrights will support their upcoming Red Scare debut Make Sound.

The Copys have been busy lately, between prepping their debut for Red Scare, Make Sound, signing on to the Single Series bandwagon and appearing on the upcoming Pop Punk’s Not Dead compilation. Anyone else remember when they were featured as an Mp3 of the Week here at Punknews.org last year?

According to a recent article, it seems the four major broadcasters (Clear Channel Communications Inc., CBS Radio, Entercom Communications Corp. and Citadel Broadcasting Corp) have agreed to anti-payola settlements, which sources at the FCC state will total $12.5 million paid to the federal government, but of more interest, 8,400 half-hour segments of free airtime will be provided to independent labels and their artists, local musicians, and notably will not apply to any companies owned by the nation's four dominant music labels — Sony BMG Music Entertainment, Warner Music Group, Universal Music Group and EMI Group.

Payola, a basic form of bribery in the broadcasting industry where cash or other "considerations" are given to radio stations or specifically DJ's in exchange for playing specific records, was made illegal in the late 1950's but can be very difficult to trace or prove. Often, the bribes come in the form of prizes originally intended for listeners, but instead stay with station employees. New regulations hope to curb that by requiring tighter records, including a database of prizes, be kept to ensure all money, prizes, etc. are properly accounted for.

Another aspect of the deal will be the creation of a "rules of engagement", to be negotiated by the broadcasters and independent labels. These will guide interactions between all music labels (independent and major) and radio stations, to ensure that dealings between parties are fair on all accounts, without further payola. Specific dates and time frames should be announced by the FCC once the settlement is finalized.
