Parkersburg, WV is playing host to the upcoming 8th installment of the Don’t Break Anything Fest on April 20th. The festivities will take place at the Parkersburg American Legion Hall and will feature local acts like Love & Squalor, Its Birds, Holden Caulfield and more alongside touring acts like Lemuria, Delay and Some Kind of Sleeping Giant.

Hewhocorrupts, Inc has officially added Chicago, IL’s Plague Bringer to its roster. The band is described as: “an ever-changing metal duo whose mission to bridge the gap between TOOL and NAPALM DEATH is as prevalent as its necessity to puncture and pulvarize headbangers across vast musical spectrums.”

An upcoming release, titled Life Songs in a Land of Death, is currently in the works and is scheduled for a Summer 2007 release via Hewhocorrupts, Inc.

Vancouver’s By A Thread have announced plans to release their long-awaited second full length this summer. The band issued their last album, The Last of the Daydreams, in 1999.

The album was produced by Theo and Tom from the punk rock outfit Gob. A title as well as a final release date are expected shortly.

The Los Angeles Times has announced that Rage Against The Machine has confirmed an additional three dates with Wu-Tang Clan.

The shows will be under the banner of Rock the Bells, the acclaimed hip-hop festival that kicks off in New York on July 28 and hits Southern California on Aug. 11. The Southern California show will be at the National Orange Show Events Center in San Bernardino while the third show, on Aug. 18, will be in San Francisco.

According to the story, the Coachella show was announced as a “one-and-done” affair but the quick sellout and the harsh-priced ticket scalping already underway are among the factors in the added shows, according to sources close to the band.

Wu-Tang Clan released Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) in 1993. Rage released their final live release, Live At The Grand Olympic Auditorium in 2003.

The Warped Tour confirmations keep coming, with the latest additions including Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Flogging Molly, As I Lay Dying, The Briefs and The Toasters. Also, Hawthorne Heights have confirmed via their MySpace page that they will be playing dates on this year’s tour as well, and will specify which ones soon.

The promoters are also promising “a bunch of ska bands” though doesn’t name which just yet.

Kirk Rundstrom, vocalist of cow-punk/bluegrass act Split Lip Rayfield has passed away after a long battle with cancer. Rundstrom, the 38-year old, was diagnosed with the disease last spring and managed to fight – and still perform – for months longer than he had originally been given by doctors.

His friends and label had this to say:

Kirk was, without debate, one of the most dynamic and passionate performers we have ever seen. To see him on stage was to see a man totally focused on, totally POSSESSED with, the music of the moment. He never ever took his audience for granted and delivered the goods with a ferocious energy that flowed through the room. I had personally seen him play some 75 times and it was never boring, it was never phoned in and it was hard to take my eyes off him. If you left a show of theirs without sweating, without losing yourself in the joyous abandon of music, it wasn’t from his lack of trying.

Our deepest condolences to Kirk’s friends, family and fans.

Bomb the Music Industry! have an update on their next full length. The band has wrapped up demoing their new material and are planning to record the album with live instruments.

As far as the album itself, they had this to say:

The album is 36 minutes long right now which seems like too much for a punk rock record so I guess when we go into the studio we’ll try to play everything a lot faster. I’ve put up the demo of “I Don’t Love You Anymore” which I think we’re gonna shoot a video for if we can get our shit together. There are no lyrics because I think they’re fairly easy to understand.

The band has also announced plans for a tour accompanied by We Versus the Shark and O Pioneers!!!. You can check out the demo they mentioned on their myspace page.

Adam: It’s been such a treat to watch the Ponys grow, as each album has taken the band’s sound tastefully evolved it. The band’s still deeply indebted to bands like Television, Richard Hell, the Velvet Underground and the Cure, not to mention a dash of shoegaze, but they’ve come into their own so organically. The band’s made the jump from brilliant garage punk label In The Red to the big indies with Matador, and look set to release Turn The Lights Out on March 20th.

The Ponys – Double Vision

Justin: I reviewed their new EP this week and really feel the need to drive home the point even more. Go listen to inblackandwhite. While not entirely groundbreaking, this Boston-based band is one of the more interested post-hardcore bands to surface of late. As much about relaxed droning grooves as they are about “angular” (does anyone else hate that term?) guitar playing, the band wears their influences on their sleeves, never letting us forget those mid-era Fugazi and Frodus records, as well as the more driving rhythms of Hot Water Music and Small Brown Bike. The band was gracious enough to let us host the fourth track from Say We Are Not Brothers for download today:
