Selene Vigil-Wilk, former lead vocalist of Seattle, WA-based melodic punk outfit 7 Year Bitch, has announced her solo debut. The record is titled That Was Then and is due out September 14, 2010
7 Year Bitch released two albums on indie C/Z Records before signing to Atlantic before the band split up in 1997. The band also appeared on a compilation to benefit Home Alive, an organization founded after the violent death of The Gits’ Mia Zapata, a longtime friend of the band. On May 27th, 2007, seminal California punk band Good Riddance took the stage for what would be the final time in band’s 12+ year career. Now, some three years after that fateful night, the band has provided fans with one last “hurrah” by culling together 21 of their best, rarest, and unreleased songs to be released this July on their long-time home, Fat Wreck Chords. Punknews interviewer Sean Jain had a chance to speak with singer/songwriter Russ Rankin about the collection, the legacy of Good Riddance, the title of the album, Capricorn One, and what the future holds for Rankin, Good Riddance, and Rankin’s other band, Only Crime.

Fat Wreck Chords has confirmed plans for an October release from None More Black. The band will be releasing their new album, Icons, on that date. The record is their first since This Is Satire in 2006. The band has been recording on Philadelphia with engineer/producer Will Yipp.

The Flaming Lips have posted the video for “The Sparrow Looks Up at the Machine.” The band promises that the video “contains some disturbing images which may not be suitable for children or sensitive adults.” At the very least, you should take this to mean that this is not a video you want to watch at work.
Chamberlain have released a new 7-inch to coincide with their upcoming run supporting Gaslight Anthem. The release features two brand new recordings. One of them, “Raise It High,” is a new song. The other, “The South Has Spoiled Me,” is a reinterpretation featuring guest vocals by Brian Fallon of The Gaslight Anthem. The 7-inch is only available at shows. A wider digital release is scheduled for 7/6, but the band has made the tracks available now for purchase via their Bandcamp page.
