Our stream today comes from Reno, NV-based Vampirates. We’ve got a stream of the band’s latest seven-song EP Muffstache. The record was engineered by Joe Johnston (Cobra Skulls, Cake, Deftones) at Pus Cavern in Sacramento, CA.
Bad Religion bassist Jay Bentley posted an update as the band continues their ongoing 30th Anniversary tour. While the band will spend much of the summer touring Europe and the UK, the band is promising a proper North American tour and South American run very soon. Bentley noted that a North American tour was being booked for October and a South American run would follow in 2011.
Thom Yorke of Radiohead is predicting an apocalypse for the music industry. In a new high school textbook called The Rax Active Citizen Toolkit, which also aims to increase political literacy, Yorke explained:
It is only a matter of time – months rather than years – before the music business establishment completely folds. (It will be) no great loss to the world.
Bigwig has posted a compilation-only track, “Waiting.” The band explained:

Four Year Strong have posted another one of the unreleased tracks from the “deluxe” version of their 2010 album, Enemy of the World. As we reported earlier, the reissue is due out June 25, 2010 (June 22 on iTunes) and will feature a new studio track, “Bad News Bearz” and acoustic versions of four songs: “Tonight We Feel Alive (On A Saturday),” “One Step At A Time,” “Find My Way Back” and “Wasting Time (Eternal Summer)”
In perhaps the most obvious and surprisingly overlooked bit of marketing synergy ever, Vans has revealed that they will soon issue Vans Warped Tour-teamed Vans Sneakers. According to a report from High Snobiety, the venerable skate shoe brand will make the themed shoes available for sale on each stop of the Vans Warped Tour. They are not planning any sort of retail or online sales for the shoes, so Warped Tour 2010 will be the only source for the shoes.
On the heels of revelations about the contents of Guitar Hero 6 comes some information about the upcoming third iteration of Rock Band. It is the first sequel to the series since Rock Band 2 in 2008. In the intervening years, the makers of the game developed mobile versions and also games themed around The Beatles and Green Day. In this new iteration, the biggest change is the addition of keyboards which will allow for a greater variety of music. The producers have also unveiled a sampling of the track listing though many more songs will be added before the release later in the year.
BlankTV is hosting the new video from Gainesville, FL punks Spanish Gamble. “There is no God Tonight” comes from the band’s Paper and Plastick debut, It’s All Coming Down. The band is currently supporting the album on a long tour of the US.
According to guitarist Phillip Hill’s Facebook page, Teen Idols have called it a day after eighteen years. Here’s what the post said:
“I decided after our show last Sunday that it’s time to put Teen Idols to rest. The show was a lot of fun and I want to end things on a high note and have everyone remain friends and have good memories. Thanks for all of the amazing support from everyone over the last 18 years! 1992 – 2010”
Fat Possum Records‘ garage punk outfit Wavves have posted the first single from their upcoming album. The single is being issued via Mountain Dew’s Green Label Sound but will appear on the full length due out August 3, 2010 and titled King of the Beach.
Northern California hardcore outfit At Our Heels have posted two songs from their upcoming Creator-Destructor Recordes debut, Misanthropy and Godlessness. The band entered Castle Ultimate Studios in Fremont, CA in March of 2010 with producers Zack Ohren (All Shall Perish, Animosity, Light This City) and Aaron Helam for the production of their debut full length
The record is due out August 11, 2010 and will feature multiple gatefold vinyl configurations, as well as a digipak CD format. The artwork was handled by artist Ryan Begley (Shirts and Destroy).
The Candy Snatchers will release their third and final full-length Down At Delilah’s on June 15, 2010 . The album will be released on CD, digital, and hand-numbered limited edition picture disc. It was recorded in 2008 and helmed by longtime producer, Dean Rispler, the album is the last recording by guitarist and band co-founder Matthew Odietus, who passed away shortly after it was completed.
