Melvins have launched a stream of their album. The record is titled The Bride Screamed Murder and it was released this week through Ipecac. It follows 2008’s Nude with Boots. Like that album and 2006’s A Senile Animal, The Bride Screamed Murder features Coady Willis and Jared Warren of Big Business as part of the rhythm section.
Sacramento hardcore act Killing the Dream have posted “Blame the Architects,” their track from the recent Deathwish sampler. The song will presumably appear on their follow up to 2008’s Fractures.
Ottawa, Ontario’s Year Zero have wrapped up recording for their debut album, Year One. The full length is set for a CD release in July via Young Modern, with vinyl coming this summer from Shooting At Decoys in North America and P Trash overseas. The record features 16 songs of what the label’s describing as “catchy, early Lookout-era punk.” You can preview tracks from the release at the band’s MySpace page.
Los Angeles-based Scarlet Grey have launched a stream of their new EP, Fancy Blood. It features guest vocals from Davey Havok and production work by Jade Puget, both of AFI.
Orange County’s Stick To Your Guns have posted a free download of their bonus track, “Inner City International.” The song is included with digital versions of their new album, The Hope Division.

Eric Solomon’s band, O Pioneers!!!, have been releasing records and playing shows since 2004. Last year the band released their latest full-length, Neon Creeps, on Asian Man Records. The band also rolled their van and after a number of lineup changes, Solomon almost pulled the plug on his project, only to be coaxed into continuing his band with the help from some of his friends in Junior Battles. This year Kiss of Death Records will be releasing a split record with O Pioneers!!! and Junior Battles. Recently, RJ Cresswell interviewed Solomon about his band’s history and his hopes for the future.
Over the next few weeks, we’ll be teaming up with Boca Raton, FL melodic hardcore outfit Protagonist to post videos from the studio as the band records their new EP in Tulsa, OK with Stephen Egerton producing. As many of you probably know, the band recently fell on some hard luck as their trailer housing roughly $22,700 worth of gear and other valuables was stolen.
Toronto’s Fucked Up have posted their cover of the Katrina & the Waves classic, “Walking on Sunshine.” The band explained:
Speaking of more records, we just recorded a cover of a song called “Walking on Sunshine” by a band called “Katrina and the Waves”, because they paid us $1000 to do it and also because we love sunshine (which you probably know if you were paying attention during the whole ChemCom 2007-2009 period). Then we found out that we had to give some of that money to our label. Then just now I found out that that band (minus the singer) makes a million dollars a year from royalties to that song (not even exaggerating) so really we recorded the song to make Katrina and the Waves richer I guess.
It’s like a mix between the original and our own song “Crooked Head”, because we realized how similar they two songs were while we were recording it at our fancy $400 and hour recording studio in Las Vegas.
Asian Man Records has announced a title and release date for the next record from pop punk stalwarts, The Queers. The band, who are just two years shy of their thirtieth anniversary, will release Back to the Basement on November 16, 2010.
Our stream today comes from Brown County, IN-based The Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band. We’ve got a stream of the band’s new full length, The Wages. The band also posted the new video for “Clap Your Hands” and you can find that right here.
