Hawthorne Heights: ‘Skeletons’

Hawthorne Heights Dayton, Ohio’s Hawthorne Heights is streaming their new record Skeletons online at MySpace. Head there to give it a listen. The album is the band’s first for Wind-Up Records and their follow up to 2008’s Victory Records released Fragile Future. The 13-track album was produced by Howard Benson (Less Than Jake, My Chemical Romance) at his Bay 7 studios in Valley Village, CA.

Bad Religion, Alkaline Trio lead Mike Davies’ Lock-Up Stage at Reading and Leeds

Alkaline Trio BBC Radio’s Mike Davies has announced the line-up for the Lock-Up Stage at this year’s Reading and Leeds Festival. Friday, August 27th will feature Alkaline Trio, Sick Of It All, Against Me!, Hatebreed, Streetlight Manifesto, Strike Anywhere, This Is Hell, Static Thought, Civet, The Skints, Crazy Arm and Blood Or Whiskey. August 28th includes Bad Religion, Get Up Kids, Cancer Bats, Zebrahead, Crime In Stereo, Rx Bandits, The Rats, Trash Talk, Paint It Black, Off with Their Heads and Moral Dilemma.

The full festival line-up includes acts like The Arcade Fire, Queens of the Stone Age, a reunion of The Libertines, Blink 182, Paramore, Weezer, Gogol Bordello, the Gaslight Anthem, Thrice, Motion City Soundtrack, NOFX and the The Futureheads among many others.

Fishbone, Aggrolites playing 11th Annual Victoria Ska Fest

The Aggrolites Victoria BC Ska Society has announced that the 11th Annual Ska Festival will take place in Victoria, BC from Wednesday, July 7th through Saturday, July 10th. This year’s line up will feature Fishbone, The Aggrolites, Cherry Poppin’ Dadies, Easy Bog Fella, Brand New Waves, Rocky Mountain Rebel Music and The Valuables. The fest will also feature a host of acts from outside North America, including New Zealand’s Katchafire and The Black Seeds, Columbia’s Skampida, Mexico’s Los Kung Fu Monkeys and Australia’s The Resignators.

The festival will be comprised of two free outdoor concerts, five ticketed shows, an art exhibition and free workshops.

Fat Mike comes clean on Cokie The Clown incident

Fat Wreck Chords has posted a video from Fat Mike of NOFX regarding the singer’s now infamous SXSW performance as Cokie The Clown. The clip reveals that Mike did not, in fact, serve members of his audience shots of Patron Anejo tequila which had been watered down with his urine. Footage from a second camera reveals the bottles were switched before the singer took the stage.

Mike of course kept up the lie when he spoke to us after the incident, which saw him banned from Emo’s, the Austin, Texas venue where the performance took place. NOFX released their Cokie the Clown EP in 2009.

In this interview, conducted by Brandon Campbell, Shawn Stern shares the story of PRB, discusses Youth Brigade’s most recent affair with The Fest 8, attempts to recall a tequila soaked performance and lets us know how people have been reacting to the band’s 25th anniversary compilation, Let Them Know.

Teenage Rehab’s Redneck Recording Blog, Volume 2

Teenage Rehab Over the next few weeks, we’ll be teaming up with Paducah, KY’s Teenage Rehab to bring you webisodes of the band’s recording process for their recent 7″, Abuse Your Solution, which they’ve adorably dubbed the “Redneck Recording Blog.” In this clip, the band lays down some bass tracks in their DIY studio.
