Underoath to begin recording new album with new drummer

Underoath have posted an update with regards to plans for recording a new album and have also unveiled a new drummer:

Underoath will be entering the studio on May 24 to record [a new album] which is scheduled for a late 2010 release, with producers Matt Goldman (Lost In The Sound Of Separation and Define The Great Line) and Jeremy SH Griffith. The band is also excited to announce that Daniel Davison (ex-Norma Jean) will be handling the drumming duties on both the new record as well as the upcoming COOL TOUR with As I Lay Dying, Blessthefall, Between The Buried And Me, The Acacia Strain, Architects, Cancer Bats, and War Of Ages.

The album will be the first since Lost in the Sound of Separation. The band will be on the road this summer with As I Lay Dying, Between The Buried And Me, Blessthefall, The Acacia Strain, Architects, Cancer Bats and War Of Ages

Transit: “Footwork” (live)

TransitA live video of Transit playing a new song, “Footwork,” has been posted.

The song comes from the band’s upcoming sophomore full-length, Keep This to Yourself, which they recently tracked with Jesse Cannon (Northstar, the Menzingers) and Mike Oettinger. A late summer or early fall release is tentatively being planned, following on last year’s acclaimed Stay Home EP.

Shai HuludShai Hulud, With Honor, Cruel Hand and Bridge and Tunnel are among the last bands to be added to Long Island Fest. Filling out the final wave as well are Advent, War Hungry, Soldiers, Product of Waste, Barnaby Jones, Bring Out Your Dead, Daybreaker, Homicidal, Stand Your Ground [NY] and Truth n Rights.

They’ll be joining acts like This Is Hell, the Carrier, Trapped Under Ice and Skycamefalling from June 10-12 on Long Island, NY at two different venues: Amityville’s Broadway Bar and Garden City’s Ethical Humanist Society.

More vinyl from Blink-182 coming

Mightier Than Sword has announced the latest in their series of deluxe vinyl pressings of albums by Blink-182. Having wrapped up reissues of Dude Ranch and Enema of the State, the label has apparently skipped over 2001’s Take Off Your Pants And Jacket and gone straight to the band’s polarizing Blink 182.

Due out July 13, the record will be pressed as a 2xLP with a gatefold jacket, including matte finish and spot gloss on the cover, outlining the famous black smiley face logo. Also included are a 10×10″ booklet in the style of the original CD booklet, as well as full color matte inner sleeves and an etched d-side vinyl with the smiley logo. Pre-orders begin on May 24th at 12 PM EST.

Tours: Danzig / Gorgeous Frankenstein / Seventh Void

Danzig have announced a special nine-city tour set to start in the middle of June. The touring band for the run will be guitarist Tommy Victor (Prong, Ministry), drummer Johnny Kelly (Type O Negative) and former Samhaim bandmate, bassist Steve Zing. Support for the east coast dates will be Gorgeous Frankenstein, the band of original Misfits member Doyle, and Seventh Void, the band that includes of Danzig/Type O Negative drummer Johnny Kelly and Type O guitarist Kenny Hickey.

Danzig promises to cover material from his catalogue back to Danzig, Lucifuge and How the Gods Kill but is not currently promising any material from previous projects.

Bane, Down to Nothing, Terror, Swamp Thing join Sound & Fury lineup

We’re happy to bring you another round of bands on this year’s Sound and Fury Festival. The fest is being sponsored by Hellfish Printing, AMP magazine and us, Punknews.org. It’s set for the the weekend of July 23rd and runs until July 25th (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) at the Earl Warren State Fairgrounds in Santa Barbara, CA.

The latest additions to the fest include: Bane, Bracewar, Create Avoid, Daylight, Down To Nothing, Grace Alley, Loma Prieta, Minus, Piece By Piece, Punch, Swamp Thing and Terror.

Frank Turner announces split 7″ competition, new tour dates

Frank Turner Frank Turner has announced a unique contest on his blog where two bands/singers will be selected to provide the B-sides for his upcoming 7″ single, Try This at Home. More information on how to submit a song can be found here.

Tom Waits providing songs for ‘Richard III’

Tom Waits Tom Waits will be lending a few songs to a Dutch production of the Shakespeare play Richard III. Songs included in the show will be “Misery Is The River Of The World”, “God’s Away On Business”, “I Don’t Wanna Grow Up”, “I’ll Shoot The Moon”, “Underground” and “The Part You Throw Away.”
