Influential experimental trio Primus have announced their first headlining tour in four years. The band has enlisted Gogol Bordello to provide support for the tour.
Fiercely DIY label, Plan-It-X Records, will be hanging it all up after next year. Co-founder Chris Johnston explained:
There will be [a Plan-It-X fest] next summer. It will be one of the last big fests before the end of the world. I’m calling it, The End of the World Fest. It will also be the end of PIX records. I plan to release PIX #100 which will be the book, “Free Pizza For Life”, the story of Samantha and I stealing pizza and starting a DIY punk label on the day of the fest. The book will come with a DATA DVD with all the PIX music ever released. Why? because I don’t want to be a dinosaur. CD sales are dropping like crazy, people don’t want them anymore. I know LP sales are up and people love records, but, that doesn’t include CDs. Most of all, I set out to start a budget label that sold CDs cheap, so I don’t want to tarnish the name of PIX by releasing LPs and selling them for higher prices. I’ve thought about this a lot and I’m not sad. I plan on starting a new label when PIX is done that releases nice looking, unique LPs, cassettes and comic books.
The label was founded in 1994 and released music by One Reason, This Bike Is A Pipe Bomb, Operation: Cliff Clavin, The Four Eyes, Ghost Mice, Paul Baribeau, Halo Fauna, Best Friends Forever, The Dauntless Elite, Andrew Jackson Jihad, Matty Pop Chart, Heathers, Delay, Paul Baribeau and Ginger Alford, Spoonboy and Against Me!.

Dexter Holland, who along with his role as a hot sauce magnate, fronts The Offspring, has posted an update on their next album:
Working with Bob Rock has been the best experience that we have had in the studio. Bob is obviously a great producer, but beyond that Bob and we get along and sort of see the record making process similarly..the songs sometimes take a little longer to finish but the end result is far better for taking the time and is something we’re very proud of.
Right now we’re working on a new batch of songs..they’re all in different stages, some are just started and some are nearly finished. The only song title I have right now is one called ‘It’s All Good’..will it make the record? Who knows! We are going in the studio today, everyday for the next two weeks..we’re going to try to get something new finished and ready to play live on tour this summer..we’ll keep you posted!
The band previously released Rise And Fall, Rage And Grace in 2008. They will be co-headlining a summer run with 311 beginning in late June.

After the sudden cancellation of their tour due to family emergency, Thrice has posted an update on their summer touring plans:
Since the situation with Dustin’s Dad arose and we had to cancel the remainder of our tour, there have been many questions regarding the status of our summer headline tour. Today we got word from Dustin that he’s good to go, and as a result, we will be continuing with our plans to do that tour in it’s entirety. It has been an indescribably difficult seven months for all of us. In September, my and Ed’s Dad was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer in his throat and tongue and has since undergone seven weeks of chemo and radiation, and a major surgery three weeks ago to remove the remaining tumors. No more than two weeks after my Dad’s diagnosis in September, Teppei’s Mom was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer, and passed away in January. And most recently, Dustin’s Dad’s diagnosis and surgery last week. It’s just been relentless.
So with that said, we’ll see you guys this Summer. Tour dates and tickets are available here, with more dates being announced soon. Keep sending positive thoughts and/or prayers in the the direction of Mr. Kensrue and my Pops, and hold fast hope.”
The headlining tour kicks off in early June.
