Tours: The New Pornographers / The Mountain Goats (Canada)

Before heading out for a (mostly) American tour, The New Pornographers will traverse the Canadian prairies for four days alongside The Mountain Goats.

The band’s new full-length, Together, is due out on May 4, 2010 via Matador Records. The Mountain Goats recently released a new DVD entitled The Life of the World to Come.

Dirty Tactics: “When You Wake Up”

Dirty Tactics Philadelphia, PA’s Dirty Tactics have unveiled another new track from their upcoming full-length, It Is What It Is, due out May 25, 2010. Check out “When You Wake Up” here.

The band will be touring extensively behind the release in the coming weeks. To commemorate the European leg of said tour, the band has two 7-inches in the works: a split with Bangers for All In Vinyl and another 7″ for Flix Records. More info on those is expected soon.

Torche / Boris split 10″ gets a release date

Torche The upcoming split 10″ from Torche and Boris is now slated for a June 29, 2010 release through Hydra Head Records. Torche unveiled a video for a song from the record entitled “King Beef” back in January. The 10″ will precede the release of Torche’s next full-length, expected out in August.

The band kicked off a tour this week alongside Circa Survive and Coheed and Cambria.

Future of 924 Gilman in jeopardy

The future of legendary Berkeley, CA venue 924 Gilman is in doubt due to a dramatic rent increase taking effect on July 1. The space, which is non-profit, alcohol-free and volunteer-run, is soliciting donations through their website to help offset the costs. To find out more and donate, head here.

Over the years, seminal Bay Area bands such as Green Day, Jawbreaker, Operation Ivy, AFI and countless others have cut their teeth at 924 Gilman. The venue has had to begin selling merchandise to help offset the rising rent costs as well as rising gas prices for touring bands.
