Contests: Win a massive Fest 9 prize pack

It's full of beards. Ah, it’s that time of year again. The weather is cooling down in most locales, the leaves are turning shades of red, yellow and orange, and one can seemingly get any food or drink infused with the flavor of pumpkin. More importantly, The Fest 9 is upon us! This weekend, around 250 bands and thousands of people will converge upon Gainesville, FL to compare beards and defy simple science by living off of Five Star Pizza and PBR tallboys for three straight days.

To celebrate, we’re teaming up with the festival’s organizers to give away a gargantuan prize pack to one lucky Fest attendee. To reiterate, you must be coming to The Fest 9 to enter. No one will be shipping all this crap to your house except you or perhaps a very understanding friend.

This is just the first of our Fest-related happenings this week; stay tuned for another big surprise later this afternoon.

Interviews: Strike Anywhere

Strike AnywhereIn our continuing series of Fest interviews Punknews is proud to present Brian Frost and John Marullo (of Protagonist) interviewing Strike Anywhere. The boys had this to say,

Since their inception in 1999, Strike Anywhere have really made their mark on the punk and hardcore scene, both nationally and internationally. With a handful of releases on labels like Jade Tree, No Idea, Chunksaah, Red Leader, Fat and most recently Bridge Nine, they have given us countless anthems as well as no excuse to have never heard of them. I still remember the first time I heard the song “Cassandratic Equation” on mix-cassette tape in my best friend’s car back in 2001, and I’ve been a fan ever since. I was privileged enough to ask them a few questions and am looking forward to catching their set this year at The Fest.
