L.A. Weekly has posted a series of photos and commentary from Rancid‘s recent benefit performances for the Silverlake Conservatory of Music. The Adolescents and Thelonious Monster opened up the Friday night shows as well.

Weezer has revealed the track listing for their long-promised reissue of 1996’s Pinkerton. The remastered double CD release will hit stores on November 2, 2010 via DGC. Along with the original album, it will feature B-sides including “You Gave Your Love To Me Softly,” “Devotion” and “I Just Threw Out The Love Of My Dreams” as well as live tracks, acoustic versions and original demo versions of songs.
SPIN and MySpace Music are teaming up to present Germs of Perfection: A Tribute to Bad Religion, a digital compilation in honor of the influential band’s 30th anniversary. The first track available for streaming from the release comes from Tegan And Sara, who tackled the band’s 1988 classic “Suffer.”
Green Day‘s Billie Joe Armstrong will be making his broadway debut for eight performances this month. Armstrong, who co-wrote the American Idiot musical, will play drug dealer St. Jimmy. He is temporarily replacing actor Tony Vincent who is on leave until October 12th for a personal matter.
Post-punk pioneers Gang of Four have released a new song from their first album of original material in 16 years. The record is titled Content and is due out January 25, 2011 via Yep Roc. The album will be available in a standard CD release and on vinyl. It will also be available in the Ultimate Content Can – this contains the new album on CD, a book version of an art piece Jon and Andy have done on ceramic tiles depicting the last 40 years of world history, a book of lyrics, a book of Rotoscoped photographs of the band’s emotions, vials of band members’ blood and a scratch and sniff booklet which reflects the key areas of human activity.
