Dismemberment Plan to reunite

Dismemberment Plan The Washington Post is reporting that seminal late 90s/early 00s post-punk outfit Dismemberment Plan will reunite early next year for five shows in support of the vinyl reissue of their 1999 full-length Emergency & I. The reissue is slated for a January 11, 2011 release via Barsuk Records in the form of a gatefold double LP with an oral history conducted by The Onion’s Josh Modell inside the sleeve. Bassist Eric Axelson told the paper that the band doesn’t have any plans beyond these shows, and ruled out a new record for now:

“We’re not planning a new record … But we’re doing these shows and taking it day to day after that.”

Rise Against enter the studio to record next album

In a promo for a heavily discounted digital copy of their last album, Appeal to Reason, Rise Against mention that they have entered the studio to begin recording their next album. Guitarist Zach Blair makes the announcement while plugging the band’s Facebook Profile.

Last week, the band announced that they will soon be releasing a new DVD titled Another Station: Another Mile. Due out October 5, 2010, the DVD will feature live performances of 14 songs recorded in locations throughout the world.

Frank Turner to record new EP

Frank Turner Frank Turner will be hitting the studio in London to record a new EP. Turner just wrapped up a run of US dates and will be headed to Germany later this month. With regards to the new EP, he said only this:

Well, USA, that was a lot of fun, if brief. Now heading home to hit the studio in London and make a new EP. See you in a month or so.

Frank continues to support his Epitaph Records debut, Poetry of the Deed and also recently posted a cover of Fake Problems’ “ADT”.

The Republic of Wolves: “Oarsman”

The Republic of WolvesThe Republic of Wolves have posted the video for their new track, “Oarsman.” A free download of the song is also available here.

The track is lifted from the Long Island-based band’s forthcoming debut full-length, Varuna, due to be self-released November 30. They already have its followup planned as well: A six-track EP dubbed The Cartographer will be digitally issued on New Year’s Day 2011. Samples from the latter are available here.

The band last released the Cardinals 7″ earlier this year, as well as the His Old Branches EP in 2009.
