Sultans (ex-Rocket from the Crypt, Heartaches) to reunite on Halloween

According to a report from Swami Records, San Diego’s Sultans will be reuniting for a one-off-show this Halloween. The band was a project formed by John “Speedo” Reis of Rocket From The Crypt (and Drive Like Jehu, The Night Marchers, Hot Snakes) during a break in Rocket’s activity in 1999. The band released two records through Reis’ label before calling it quits in 2007. The band will reunite at Bar Pink, the bar co-owned by Reis in San Diego’s North Park district. The reunion lineup includes Reis (aka Slasher) on guitar & vocals, Andy Stamets (RFTC’s ND, aka Black Flame) on second guitar, Reis’ brother Dean (aka Black Velvet, also of the Heartaches) on bass, and Tony DiPrima on drums.

Tickets go on-sale today. You can find more information here.

Interviews: Tom May (The Menzingers)

The MenzingersBuzz around a band can stem from a variety of places. It might come from a catchy-but-not-too-catchy anthem, embracing live shows or a lyrical and musical honesty that radiates far beyond anything less sincere in the sometimes-bleak punk scene.
