MC5 guitarist Wayne Kramer recently stopped by the Daytrotter studios to record a session, which includes new takes on the 1970 MC5 track “High School,” “No Easy Way Out” from Kramer’s 1997 solo release The Return of Citizen Wayne, and “Bad Seed” from his 1995 album The Hard Stuff +, along with a cover of “Redemption Song.”

Orlando, FL’s How Dare You will enter the studio in early October to begin work on their sophomore full-length. The group will return to Starlight Studios, the same place they recorded their 2008 debut Comfort Road. More details, such as a release date and label, are expected to be announced soon.
The band also released a split 7″ with The Knockdown in 2009, and will be appearing at The Fest 9 in Gainesville, FL over Halloween weekend.

Strike Anywhere will head out on a short run of dates in the South and on the East Coast this fall.
Frontman Thomas Barnett commented on the promise of old songs for familiar cities: “The final run of our Iron Front year–these special shows with rare set lists, digging back to the roots–our hometown punk scenes and origin cities in the South East. This tour is close to our hearts and we will definitely have a few surprises along the way.”

No Idea Records has released the third new new Hot Water Music live 7-inch. The disc includes four songs recorded at Chicago’s Metro in 2008: “Giver”, “A Flight and a Crash”, “Swinger” and “Our Own Way.” Like previous editions, it’s limited to 1000 copies and this one is pressed on yellow vinyl with a die-cut cover. The band is currently planning a split 7-inch with the Bouncing Souls as well as a trip to the land of boot-based justice.

Eighteen months after the release of Punk Goes Pop 2, Fearless Records has announced plans to issue the third volume in the series on November 2, 2010. The album is the tenth in their Punk Goes&helliip; series which featured Punk Goes Classic Rock earlier in 2010. Like the previous iteration, the new album will feature punk and emo acts covering mainstream pop hits. Participating bands include: Breathe Carolina, Woe, Is Me, Artist Vs Poet, Mayday Parade, Asking Alexandria, This Century, The Word Alive, Family Force 5, Of Mice & Men, Miss May I, The Ready Set, Cute Is What We Aim For, Sparks The Rescue and We Came As Romans.
They plan to tackle songs from Katy Perry, Lady GaGa, M.I.A., Jay-Z, B.o.B, T.I. and many more.

Loose Charm Records has officially begun preorders for Red City Radio‘s 2009 EP, To the Sons & Daughters of Woody Guthrie. The release is a one-sided 12″, limited to 500 copies (100 on transparent yellow vinyl and 400 on white vinyl) and with hand-screened artwork on the b-side of the wax. Each record will also come with a download card packing two bonus tracks that were previously only available in Europe.
All pre-orders are currently only available through Vinyl Collective and from the band at shows. Though the label plans to sell them though their webstore, which they plan to have up and running soon.
Brooklyn Underground have posted a free 20 song compilation featuring music from Iron Chic, Caleb Lionheart, The Marine Electric, After the Fall, Late Nite Wars, The Reveling, Transit, Tomahawk Chop and Bridge and Tunnel.

Bad Books have posted another new track. The band is the new project from Kevin Devine and Manchester Orchestra‘s Andy Hull. The album features five compositions each from both Devine and Hull, with the members of Manchester Orchestra filling out the sound and the band. The self-titled debut will be released October 19, 2010 via Favorite Gentlemen Recordings, the record label that was founded and has been run by Manchester Orchestra since 2007.
The song, “Please Move,” is streaming on their Facebook Profile.

Coliseum have announced the next few months of tour dates as they hit the road in support of their latest album, House with a Curse. The band will be touring North America with Burning Love from August 27th to September 19th, play two shows with Young Livers and then head to Europe for a month of shows with Bison BC and Kvelertak.

Scranton, PA’s Captain, We’re Sinking just wrapped up a tour in support of their new 7″ for Kind Of Like Records, It’s a Trap. The band has been kind enough to send us another diary of their recent exploits. In this episode, the band hits the southeast and tries strangely-named drinks in North Carolina, plays a rain-soaked outdoor set and (probably) hangs out with South Carolina’s finest exotic dancers, among other things.
