Death By Stereo are back in the studio working on a new album and while at it have decided to chronicle their efforts with a video blog.. Band vocalist Efrem Schulz adds
Myself, Dan Palmer, Tyler Rebbe, and Chris Dalley have been writing, rehearsing and recording with our producer JASON FREESE. In true D.B.S. form, we are trying to make a record that is new and different from the last. We are always trying to change and evolve. There is some of the fastest stuff we’ve ever done on this record along with some of the most melodic stuff we’ve ever attempted as well. We are more excited than I think we have ever been about any record. We can’t wait to get this album done and get back out on the road and see all of our friends that we have not seen in so long. We also have a couple local shows coming up as well…
In the meantime, the band has a couple of shows lined up close to home including a free February 2 date at Friar Tucks in Pomona, California and a benefit show on March 8 at The vault 350 in Long Beach, California with Strung Out.
In related news, during a recent interview with Punkradiocast.com, Efrem revealed that some members of the band were working on a new side project:
I’d like to be the first one to announce this publicly, me and Dan (Palmer) are starting a Huey Lewis and The News tribute band, and this is not a joke. I’m singing, and we’re called “Chuy Luis”, Dan’s playing guitar, Dan’s brother John (ex Drums in Ignite), Chris Aiken (Strung Out) is playing bass. We’ve got Jason Freeze playing saxophone and Dan Kelly (Ten Foot Pole) is playing keyboard…
During the interview, Efrem also made clear his stance on file sharing, in contrast to some other bands:
I think everyone should steal music, I think everyone should download music. It doesn’t fucking matter -the industry is designed to destroy bands… it’s just leveling the playing field. Without the internet, I wouldn’t have been able to meet as many wonderful friends all over the world.
You can check out the interview or r a sneek peek at an unreleased song; “Sing For You” off of their upcoming album Video 1 (New Song) Video 2 (Band Announcent) Death By Stereo released Death For Life on Epitaph in 2005.
