Toronto hardcore luminaries Fucked Up have discussed some details on their upcoming holiday single. The band revealed:
In honor of the season, Fucked Up has recorded a special festive single. The a-side features a brand new holiday themed song by Fucked Up. Clocking in at four minutes, this ripper is about the birth of our lord and savior: David Eliade and serves as a taste of what is to come on Fucked Up’s for coming LP, “The Chemistry Of Modern Life”, that will see the light of day next year.
The b-side of the record boasts a very special Christmas / Hanukkah / Kwanzaa song which has Fucked Up collaborating with: James Murphy (LCD Soundsystem), Cole (Black Lips), Davey Havok (AFI), Kevin Peterson (What’s Your Rupture?), Faris Rotter (The Horrors), Mike Fellows (Rites Of Spring), Matt Sweeney (Chavez/ Zwan), Dave One (Chromeo), Jacob Thiele (The Faint), Morag and Ursula, Jay Reatard, Dan Romano (Attack In Black), Trevor Keith (Face To Face), Jason Green (Panthers/ Orchid), Jerry A. (Poison Idea), Shenae Grimes (Degrassi: The Next Generation), Scott Vogel (Terror) and Nelly Furtado. This is not a joke. All of these people (willingly) participated in the recording of this song. This probably the most bizarre collaboration that they have/ will ever do.
The single was recorded in studio space donated by Chris Hegge of Audiolab Studios Toronto and a limited number will come gift wrapped in “special Fucked Up wrapping paper” donated by Simone of Punchclock. All proceeds from the sale of the record will go to the George Herman House, a transitional housing and life skills program that supports women who are living with mental health issues in Toronto.
The release will be supported by an event at Toronto’s Sonic Boom music on December 15th.
