Gerard Way and Gabriel Ba‘s comic book, The Umbrella Academy, has been optioned for a film version. Gerard talked about the prospect with NME:
If we get the right people in place, it could be really amazing but I’m trying not to think about it too much. I’m keeping my head focused on the comics.
He also spoke to the LA Times saying:
I’ve heard 2010 and 2011. I think 2010 is the big Marvel year, right? So maybe 2011. Not that this is going to be like those movies, really. I said going into the meetings that this film has to be really progressive.
Punknews.org has reviewed two sets of the series, The Umbrella Academy: Vol. 4 [comic] and The Umbrella Academy: Apocalypse Suite.
