Influential reggae artist Lee “Scratch” Perry will have a new full length available in 2008 titled Repentance. The record will follow up the prior Panic In Babylon and will be released via Narnack Records.
71 year old Perry has been collaborating on the record with party rocker Andrew W.K., who is serving as co-producer and collaborator on the project. Pitchfork Media recently reported that the record will be a mixture of collaborations with other artists and new tracks from Perry. The Slits‘ Ari up and singer / songwriter Aimee Allen are said to be collaborating.
The Mighty Upsetter and Andrew W.K. first met at last year’s SXSW in Austin, Texas where W.K. interviewed Perry for a DirectTV special. This lead to a second interview for W.K.’s upcoming SMOKESHOW television project, and through that plans for the record.
