Hello everybody and welcome to Navel Gazing: your look back at the week in Punknews. I’m Adam White and I’ll be your guide through some of the most popular, notable, and otherwise attention getting stories of the past seven days. Each and every Punknews story is built from tips contributed by you fine folks, and here’s what got the community talking this week:
- A report in Billboard noted that album sales have hit rock bottom with the week ending May 30th bringing in the lowest music sales numbers since data began to be collected in `94.
- Max Bemis of Say Anything sat down on video to chat with the Lawrence Arms‘ Brendan Kelly and Red Scare Records’ Toby Jeg. Topics strange, slow and old were touched upon.
- Tour head honcho Kevin Lyman made a number of comments on the 2010 Warped Tour. As usual the question of what bands and genres are showcased dominated the discussion.
- The Gaslight Anthem is streaming their new album American Slang
- Vocalist/guitarist Dan Vapid stated in a recent interview that The Methadones will call it a day by year’s end.
- Frank Turner has returned from Israel and defended his decision to play dates there.
- The Alkaline Trio‘s Matt Skiba released the new solo song “S.O.S.”
With that we hand over this Sunday evening to you, the Punknews community. From that glorious, likely bearded rabble we’ve see the creation of everything from message boards and Punknews fantasy sports leagues to even a band or two. So talk amongst yourselves and we’ll see you Monday…
