Hello everybody and welcome to Navel Gazing: your look back at the week in Punknews. I’m Adam White Justin and I’ll be your guide through some of the most popular, notable, and otherwise attention getting stories of the past seven days. Each and every Punknews story is built from tips contributed by you fine folks, and here’s what got the community talking this week…

The People Must Have Something Good To Read On A Sunday
This week’s most popular stories

This past week ended with some news from Asian Man Records, mostly on the bummer side of the scale. The Matt Skiba solo album we’ve been waiting for was delayed and Ben Weasel decided to take his ball and go home, severing all ties with the label. No word as to why. We heard about Bomb The Music Industry!‘s upcoming “Bring Your Own Band Tour” which sounds… interesting. The young’ns in O Pioneers!!! are rolling out on tour with Against Me! and Roll The Tanks in California this winter.

There was quite a bit of old guard/late 90’s nostalgia going on this week. We heard that Pennywise was gearing up for a new album and tour while the Mad Caddies are building a “Best Of” album via fan votes. Mine is for “The Bell Tower” about 12 times. ALL is heading out on tour with Off With Their Heads and Shot Baker, which has some of our editors singing Mass Nerder back to front in anticipation. When they run out of politics, animal rights and Fat Mike jokes, Propagandhi shows their true colors and wax poetic about hockey. Hold off on the “Where Are They Now…” VH1, Wizo is back! New album and tour in the works.

The lovable chaps in Fucked Up unveiled their plans for splits with NOFX and The King Khan and BBQ Show and a remake of “Do They Know It’s Christmas.” That last one can’t end well.

We heard some concerns about underground music venues in Los Angeles and our commenters had their own experiences to talk about surrounding that as well.

I Can’t Control My Fingers I Can’t Control My Brain
New feature content, weekly columns and exclusives

This week we spoke with Shawn Stern of BYO Records, Matt Hawks of Hit the Switch, and John Darnielle of The Mountain Goats.

As always we brought you new streaming music from some great up and coming bands, including new material from Snacktruck, Dead To Me‘s new LP African Elephants, an EP from The A-Gang, and a new EP from Sleepless Nights.

So what’s coming up this week? Look for new releases from Defeater, MxPx, The Blood Brothers, A Wilhelm Scream, and many others. Rise Against / Thursday / Poison the Well (UK), Baroness with Earthless, Iron Age, Off With Their Heads and Municipal Waste, Cub Country (ex-Jets to Brazil), After the Fall / Such Gold, Story of the Year / The Devil Wears Prada / All That Remains / Haste The Day, The Ataris, Big D and the Kids Table / Ill Scarlet, Underoath / August Burns Red / Emery, and more.
