The Good, The Bad and The Queen are apparently working on a new album. The band features Clash basist Paul Simonon, as well as Damon Albarn (Blur, Gorillaz), afrobeat pioneer Tony Allen, Simon Tong (The Verve) and producer Dangermouse (Gnarls Barkley, Gorillaz). They last released The Good, The Bad and The Queen in 2007.
Frontman Albarn spoke to New Zealand’s Stuff Magazine and when he was asked about it, said:
The Pains of Being Pure at Heart have released a new song titled “Heart in Your Heartbreak.” The song comes from a two-song 7-inch due out in December which is the second 7-inch from the band this year, the other being href=”http://www.punknews.org/review/9515″>Say No to Love [7-inch]. They released their last full length, The Pains of Being Pure at Heart, in 2009.
Pop-punk/new wave outfit New Collisions have posted their new video for “Dying Alone.” The band were discovered by Cars keyboardist Greg Hawkes and he helped to secure opening slots for new waves classics like Blondie and the B-52s within three months of their first performance. Here’s another Fest 9 for your eyes and ears, this one from Minneapolis, MN’s Banner Pilot. The band performed at The Venue on day two of The Fest and spread plenty of sweaty, beer-soaked Midwestern cheer, to say the least. “Central Standard” is the opening track from their 2009 effort, Collapser.
Even though they’re based in LA now, Maryland band Good Charlotte are still very much in touch with their roots. After breaking into mainstream popularity with their second album, The Young and the Hopeless in 2002, the 4-piece outfit of best friends and brothers have steadily released records with the intent of mixing it up with each new release (to the distaste of some fans) while still staying true to themselves. Their fifth album, Cardiology, came out Tuesday, and with it, the band is toying with a few changes, including a new label, last minute producer change and more personal lyrics. Punknews interviewer Laila Hanson had the chance to chat with guitarist Benji Madden about some of the changes the band has faced, and how they’re standing strong throughout it all.
Poker Night at the Inventory is now available for pre-order. If you move fast, not only will you save 10% off the already low price, but you’ll also pick yourself up a sweet pre-order bonus of this spiffy Poker Visor for your favorite Heavy. Once the game is released, you’ll also be able to unlock new TF2 items by beating The Heavy, Max, Tycho, or Strong Bad at high stakes games of poker.
This is pretty exciting to us – it’s the first time a game made by someone other than us allows you to find TF2 items by playing it. If you’d asked us, as we slaved away on TF2 back in ’63, whether one day you’d be able to get the Heavy’s first minigun off him by playing poker, we’d think you were nuts. Then we’d have hired you, because you had a vision for the future.
If you’re curious, here’s the set of items that you’ll be able to collect inside Poker Night at the Inventory:
The Enthusiast’s Timepiece – Tycho’s favorite timepiece (equippable by the Spy)
License to Maim – Max’s Badge (equippable by all classes)
The Lugermorph – A second chance at Max’s personal armament (equippable by the Scout and the Engineer)
The Iron Curtain – The Heavy’s first love (equippable by the Heavy, obviously)
Dangeresque, Too? – Strong Bad’s styling glasses (equippable by the Demoman)
