There are a ton of bands set to play This Is Hardcore 2010. Some of them are well-known like Kid Dynamite, Ink & Dagger and Bane and others, like Nottingham, UK-based Almost Home, will be making their US debut with the festival. To help introduce you to the band, we’ve got a stream of their most recent full length, Closure.
Hardcore outfit Trash Talk have launched a stream of their latest full length, The record is titled Eyes and Nines and it was released on physical formats yesterday . It is the follow-up to Trash Talk which was released in 2008.
The best thing about this band is that we do whatever we want. With other bands I’ve been in there was always a goal in terms of touring a certain amount, attaining a certain level of success and so on. Everyone in Ice Age has either a full time band or a career which leaves us in the unique position – it’s actually quite a luxury. No one likes us when we play? So what, we had fun. No one buys our merch? Who cares, I had fun designing it. We’re not lighting up the message boards? Big deal. We’re doing this because we love it and anything beyond that is just gravy.
The trailer has been released for Sounds Like a Revolution, a new documentary about political activism that we first mentioned in April. The film features Henry Rollins, Fat Mike of NOFX, Tom Morello of Rage Against The Machine, Jello Biafra, Justin Sane of Anti-Flag and others and the recently completed film was directed by Summer Preney and Jane Michener and written by Margaret Susan Martin. The summary described the film:
Sounds Like a Revolution is a pro-active and energizing documentary about a new generation of activist musicians who are living proof that music is an important and powerful tool in the ongoing struggle for social change. From the Dixie Chicks to Michael Franti to the punk band Anti-Flag, artists across the musical spectrum recount their motivations and struggles in a post-9/11 environment where dissent was silenced and censorship was commonplace. With themes that explore the role of artists in society, freedom of expression and democratic participation, Sounds Like a Revolution presents a unique historical perspective behind the new wave of protest music sweeping America and offers new hope for the future.
AFI‘s Davey Havok recently spoke with AFI News HQ about plans for a second Blaqk Audio release. The band is the electronic sideproject of Havok and his AFI bandmate, Jade Puget. Davey had this to say:
There is so much material that we have… Jade and I have been talking about which songs are going to go where, and we’ve had thoughts of releasing EP’s and singles… it’s really difficult to create a record because I feel that so much is going to be left out.
According to the report, the band has tracked 33 songs already and plans are underway for a release sometime after AFI wraps up the touring cycle for 2009’s Crash Love.
Dillinger Four emailed to let us know about their upcoming July 4th “Tony ExtravaDanza.” The band will be performing on the 4th at their own Triple Rock Social Club in Minneapolis, MN. Along with the guys, the bill will feature Banner Pilot, The Dopamines, The Slow Death and The Box Thieves.
They also add:
18+, doors at 8pm. And it actually IS on the 4th, not Saturday the 3rd (that would make us fibbers). As always it will involve fireworks and hotdogs in a “Tony ExtravaDanza” of all things spam and food stamps. Where the streets are paved with gold and the beaches are soaked in oil.
Last night, to kick off the release of their new album, Against Me! visited Spin to record a live-to-web broadcast. The band performed on the roof of the Spin building in support of their new album, White Crosses, released Tuesday.
