Streetlight Manifesto have posted a update on their current status, upcoming plans and solo projects. The band notes that they are spending the next few months working on their last record for Victory Records:
We are spending the next couple of months in and out of the studio. Finally! The last SM record on our current label has finally commenced recording! Freedom! We’re in the middle of booking tons and tons of tours for 2011 and we’ll be hitting many, many places we’ve never been, both in our country, our neighboring countries and as far away as the other side of the world.
As well, vocalist Tomas Kalnoky is about to release some solo material:
Tomas (under the name Toh Kay) and Dan Potthast will be releasing a split LP on November 16th via The Pentimento Music Company, in which they reinterpret 5 of each other’s songs (each) with acoustic instruments.
Modest Mouse will be reissuing two of their earliest releases next month. Frontman Isaac Brock’s Glacial Pace will issue new vinyl and CD versions of The Fruit That Ate Itself and Sad Sappy Sucker on November 9, 2010. The LP versions will be pressed on new 180g vinyl with a bundled download card and the CDs are being repackaged in new fold-out two panel digi-paks.
I’m furious about the way we’re being led towards socialism. I have come to believe (not just wonder) that Obama’s plan is to destroy America from within.
In the new interview, she is critical of those who judged her for her participation:
No country can provide all things for all citizens. There comes a point where it just isn’t possible, and it’s proven to be a failure everywhere it’s been tried. I am not oblivious to the plight of the poor, but I don’t see any reason/sense to the idea that everyone has to have everything, especially when the economy is so bad. I see that philosophy as merely a ploy to control.
Today it was announced that there would be no cost of living increase for Social Security recipients because “there’s no inflation.” I’d love to know what makes them think that! Where the hell do they shop? Prices have been rising for over a year. Inflation is a natural happening, I know. But why is it that suddenly food prices don’t go up two or three or five cents, but instead they’re going up 40, 50, 60 cents at a clip? No inflation my ass!
[Democrats say that tea partiers are] all racists, they’re all religious nuts, they’re all uninformed, they’re all stupid, they want no taxes at all and no regulations whatsoever. I’m stunned that so many people who call themselves liberal yet are completely intolerant. I thought liberals loved everyone: the poor, the immigrant, the gays, the handicapped, the minorities, dogs, cats, all eye colors, all hair colors! Peace, love, bull! Curious they have no tolerance whatsoever for anyone who doesn’t think exactly as they do. You disagree and you’re immediately called a fool, a Nazi, a racist.
Weezer is planning a third release from the vaults this year, with vocalist Rivers Cuomo announcing plans to release his third Alone collection. Rivers promises that it will include more solo recordings of tracks from the “lost” pre-Pinkerton concept album. He is planning to accompany that release with the publication of “The Pinkerton Diaries which will compile Cuomo’s journals, emails and Harvard papers from that era.

Ariane “Ari Up” Forster of The Slits has passed away at 48. Ari Up formed The Slits when she was 14, in 1976. After The Slits split in 1981, she moved with her husband and twin children to jungle regions of Indonesia and Belize, living among indigenous people in those areas. Later, they moved to Jamaica, eventually settling in Kingston. She continued to make music, first with the New Age Steppers, then solo as Baby Ari, Madussa, and Ari Up. John Lydon made the announcement on his official website:
John [Lydon] and Nora [Forster] have asked us to let everyone know that Nora’s daughter Arianna (aka Ari-Up) died today (Wednesday, October 20th) after a serious illness. She will be sadly missed.
