Chris Shiflett & The Dead Peasants, the new project from Chris Shiflett of Jackson United, Foo Fighters, Me First and The Gimme Gimmes, No Use for a Name and others, have set a release date for their eponymous debut. The record is due out July 13, 2010 via Le Coq Napoleon/RCA and sees Chris tackling “Americana-laced rock songs.” Chris attributes the sound to influences like classic country artists (Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings), rockabilly (Gene Vincent, Eddie Cochran), and deep-rooted rock bands (The Rolling Stones, The Replacements),
The album’s additional instrumentation was performed by an array of musicians, including Davey Faragher (Elvis Costello and The Imposters, Jenny Lewis, John Hiatt) on bass, Greg Leisz (Wilco, Lucinda Williams, Whiskeytown) on pedal steel, Stevie Blacke (Beck, Weezer, Colbie Caillat) on violin and mandolin, and Audra Mae on backing vocals.
Avenged Sevenfold have announced a title and release date for their upcoming fifth album. The record is titled Nightmare and is due out July 17, 2010 via Warner. It is the follow-up to Avenged Sevenfold which was released in 2007. The album was produced by Mike Elizondo (Dr. Dre, Eminem) and mixed by noted engineer Andy Wallace.
In August, Avenged Sevenfold will set out co-headlining the first annual Rockstar Energy Drink UPROAR Festival with Disturbed. Also on the bill are Stone Sour, Halestorm, and Hell Yeah. The UPROAR tour, which will hit amphitheatres and arenas, marks the band’s first tour since the passing of drummer Jimmy “The Rev” Sullivan. Mike Portnoy from Dream Theater plays drums on Nightmare and will also tour with the band for UPROAR.
