Lifetime‘s Dan Yemin has posted the latest update from the band to their Myspace page. In it, Dan discusses the band’s touring plans, touring mates and also mentions his other project, Paint It Black.

Warped has announced the latest additions to the tour this year. First, is long-running pop-punk outfit, New Found Glory and the second is UK-based post punk outfit The Automatic.

The former is touring in support of their latest full length, Coming Home and you can find two songs from the album on their Punknews.org Profile.

The latter will be appearing from late June through Jule 24th. They are a critically acclaimed act which has drawn comparisons to Fugazi, Bloc Party, Interpol and the Blood Brothers. Some music is available on their myspace page.

No Idea has posted the tracklisting and artwork for the upcoming J Church record, The Horror Of Life. This will be the band’s follow up full-length to 2004’s Society Is A Carnivorous Flower. The record will be released March 13th on No Idea Records.

An Angle have announced a March tour in support of their upcoming album, The Truth Is That You Are Alive. The band recorded at The Hangar in Sacramento, CA and are aiming for a May release.

The band released their last album, We Can Breathe Under Alcohol in 2005, as well as the 5 Days, 5 Songs EP in 2006.

The organizers behind the 2007 edition of Ozzfest have announced that this summer’s tour will be free. The long-running tour will be selling no tickets and instead is planning to enlist sponsors to fund the tour.

The news is even more surprising as the event is the top-grossing festival tour of all time, and second only to the Warped Tour for longevity. Sharon Osbourne explained:

We’re reaching the same point we did years ago when kids no longer wanted to pay for overpriced CDs. As a result, they found alternative ways of getting music. That’s what’s happening with summer touring in this country, it’s out-pricing itself. We started this and we want to keep it and we want to make it bigger and bigger each year by getting bigger sponsors to be involved with the festival and underwriting the festival. That’s what it’s about.

The plan is for interested showgoers to visit to special sponsor sites where tickets can be secured. More details regarding the process are forthcoming.

In a surprising open letter today, Apple CEO Steve Jobs posted a detailed essay explaining why Apple sells copy-protected music and more importantly, the benefits of removing the digital locks from purchased music. The revelation is particularly surprising since Apple’s iTunes store currently dominates the digital download market and sells more than a billion DRM-protected songs a year.

Jobs explains that the only reason for DRM is to appease the big four music companies and Apple would embrace a DRM-free future “in a heartbeat.” Apple even urges European countries to pressure the “two and a half” major labels headquartered in Europe (Universal/Vivendi, EMI and half of Sony BMG) to license their music to Apple and others without the digital locks that all major label’s seem to require.

While many have publically questioned the value proposition of restricted music, no company as high profile as Apple have ever made statements like this against DRM.

Another new track from their upcoming Leftover Crack/Citizen Fish split has surfaced online. The disc is titled Deadline and Citizen Fish recorded 5 original songs along with their cover of LoC’s “Clear Channel Fuck Off” and Choking Victim’s “Money”.

Leftover Crack contributed 6 new songs and 2 covers, one being a Subhumans song and the other being a CItizen Fish song. Special guests on the record include Jello Biafra and M.D.C.’s Dave Dictor.

Chicago’s Chin Up Chin Up have announced a tour with Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin set to kick off this month. The band is touring in support of their new album, This Harness Can’t Ride Anything.

The band just wrapped up work on the video for the title track from the album with Eric David Johnson (who directed M Ward’s “Chinese Translation” video), with help from the animation team at Hooliganship.

This Is Hell have announced more dates in the coming months. The band recently promised a new 2007 full length. This past weekend, the band wrapped up work on eleven demos, the finished versions of which will make up most of the followup to the band’s last full-length, Sundowning, which was released just over seven months ago. That album also recently garnered a spot on our year-end list. Sundowning‘s followup is promised to be properly recorded “some time after the summer,” which it seems may already cancel out the band’s 2007 release promise.

If the album’s release is indeed squeezed into the 2007 calendar year however, this would mean the band will have released new, individual material four years straight: 2004’s self-titled demo (self-released), 2005’s self-titled EP (State of Mind), and last year’s aforementioned Sundowning (Trustkill). A split with Cancer Bats is also in the works for this year.

Fall Out Boy has launched a full album stream of their highly anticipated follow up to 2005’s breakthrough, From Under The Cork Tree.

The successful band has been the subject of high profile remixes, leaks, controversial statements and famous guest stars in the weeks leading up to the release. They also have way more friends than you do (unless you’re Tila Tequila).
