The ever-popular mod Desert Combat was updated and released yesterday to add enhancements and bug fixes.
This update is considered one of their biggest updates with the inclusion of three new maps and MANY new vehicles.
The team has been working on making the teams more balanced and this update seems to have helped a little bit. While they do note that there are still some issues of some things being more powerful then their counterparts, they do mention that they are still working on this issue.
From a personal perspective:
I played this updated mod at a LAN party yesterday from both sides and thought that things were better when it comes to balance. The new vehicles seemed to be the causing factor in this. I highly recommend trying out this update if you have been unhappy with the previous ones. Click “read more” for the list of updates for this mod.

Battlefield 1942 Adds Punkbusters to Prevent Cheating!
I am glad to see EA address cheating in BF42. It would have been nice if they had done this from the beginning. Hopefully they learned their lesson and will incorporate this into future games. Here is the message from the Official Battlefield 1942 website.
In response to the #1 request from the community, DICE & EA are proud to announce the inclusion of anti-cheat measures in the next patch for Battlefield 1942. The Battlefield team is committed to providing an exploit-free gaming environment for members of our community. Our goal is to have measures in place which address both current and future cheats. As such, after researching existing anti-cheat programs, weve determined that Punkbusterâ„¢ suits our purposes perfectly. Well keep everyone updated as to our progress. For now, we have successfully integrated Punkbuster into the upcoming 1.6 patch and were in the process of testing it.

Korn Releases New Album Early
Are you looking for the new Korn album? Well you can get it earlier than expected. Due to songs showing up on the Internet, Korn has moved their November 25th release date up to this Friday. MTV.com has the full scoop along with Korns reaction to the leaks.
Of course, the record label will blame the leak if the album does not sell very well and they will applaud moving the release date up if it does sell well. I think if the albums good, it will sell, regardless if it comes out this Friday or Next Tuesday. Then again, we all know the Record Labels just dont get it.
A Great Article on MMORPGs
This story is a little late, but I felt it was important enough to list. If you missed it and you are a fan of Ultima, Ultima Online, Richard Garriott, MMORPGs or even D&D, check it out.
Here is a taste of one of the articles to wet your whistle:
“Late in 1994, Richard Garriott was not a happy visionary. Sitting in Electronic Arts CEO Larry Probsts office, listening to the older mans explanations for why online worlds werent a good investment, he sighed. This was the third time hed been here making the same pitch. He might as well be an arcade game character — with three lives. This was the last one, at least for this game. He was ready to call it quits. This corporate game was no fun at all.”

WoW Quest Info Available
Blizzard has released a play by play account of an ingame quest for World of Warcraft, along with screen shots. This game looks very impressive and the game play should cater to the casual gamer as well as the power gamer.
Ozzie Cancels European Tour
CNN.com has an article about Ozzy canceling his european tour due to a tremor.
The good news is the tremor is controllable with medication.
The bad news is the medication causes Ozzy to have a very dry mouth, affecting his ability to sing.
Oh the jokes I can think of concerning dry mouth. Ill just let you make up your own.

WWII Mod Red Orchestra Released for UT2k3
For all you Battlefield 1942 fans out there, I thought I would throw something slightly different your way. It is a WWII mod for Unreal Tournament 2003 called Red Orchestra.
From their official website: “Red Orchestra brings you in-depth infantry combat on the Eastern Front of WWII. With the emphasis on realism and authenticity, the Soviet Red Army meets the German Army on the ground across battlefields from Kiev through Stalingrad and on to the Reichstag in Berlin. Real weapons. Real battles. Real soldiers.”
The screenshots are incredible. I am downloading it as I type. I will follow up with a small review.
