The Brokedowns sign to Red Scare

The Brokedowns Red Scare has added Elgin, IL pop-punk outfit The Brokedowns to its roster. The band’s debut full-length for the label, Species Bender, is slated for a September 14, 2010 release. Red Scare CEO Tobias Jeg had this to say about the signing:

“There’s so much going on right now with the label, and as we all know, these are bleak times for small indies like Red Scare, but when I heard these songs I just knew I had to make this happen. This stuff is shit-hot. It reminds me of D4 meets Black Flag meets Raygun meets Fucked Up. It’s thunderous punk rock but with great, stinging melodies and a little bit of fruitiness to make things fun. So yeah, we’re stoked. And I haven’t even mentioned my favorite part about The Brokedowns: their lyrics. Shit’s awesome, but you’re already tired of me gushing about these guys.”

The band’s last full-length was 2007’s New Brains for Everyone, which was recently re-released by Traffic Street Records and is currently streaming at the band’s Punknews.org page. In the interim, they’ve released splits with The Arrivals, The Copyrights and Turkish Techno.
