The Decemberists have announced dates for a full U.S. tour as well as a remix EP that will be released.
As far as the tour goes, it will span over a month long and find the band playing at least two dates in each city they hit. The band is promising two “totally different” set lists for each night within a city’s stop — the first night will be themed “The Long of It” and find the band performing every one of their songs that span longer than eight minutes; the second night, “The Short of It,” will find the band playing a set list “entirely built of those more sprightly numbers whose adherence to brevity keeps them on the more radio-friendly side of that selfsame 8 minute mark.”
The EP will be titled The Perfecter Crime and encompass a collection of remixes of the song “The Perfect Crime #2,” and will be released September 25th in two formats: 12″ vinyl and digital download. It’ll feature remixes by the likes of Diplo, Junior Boys and Touch of Class, as well as a radio edit of the track.
The band has some television-related goings-on as well. Their performance on Austin City Limits will be airing on October 13th on PBS, and they’ve recently recorded a new version of the song “Little Boxes” for an as-yet-undisclosed episode of the Showtime series “Weeds,” which would premiere in October.
Their Capitol debut, The Crane Wife, was released last year.
