In advance of the upcoming Anti- benefit CD Healing The Divide, a track by Tom Waits and the Kronos Quartet , featuring Greg Cohen, Philip Glass and none other than Tibetan spiritual leader and Nobel Peace Prize laureate the Dalai Lama will be released as a digital single. “Diamond In Your Mind,” a Waits / Brennan penned song that was originally written for soul artist Solomon Burke’s 2002 LP Don’t Give Up On Me, will be released as a digital single on June 26th. It’s one of four Waits tracks on the disc.
Healing The Divide: A Concert For Peace And Reconciliation hits stores on July 10th. It’s the result of a live show recorded on September 21, 2003 concert at New York’s Avery Fisher Hall, part of the Dalai Lama’s 20 day tour of the US that year. The label describes the event as a “a musical meeting of East and West, transcending cultural boundaries through music.” All proceeds from the release will go to the Tibetan Health Initiative, a program that provides health insurance and medical care to Tibetan Buddhist monks and nuns living in refugee settlements. Each CD purchase will reportedly provide one year of health insurance.
