San Francisco – April 7, 2004 – Ubisoft, one of the worlds largest videogame publishers, announced its award-winning Montreal Studio is currently producing Far Cry Instincts, console versions based on the recently released, tactical tropical PC shooter. The console versions will be an entirely new game built from the ground up utilizing the most advanced technology Far Cry fans have come to expect. The game will be unveiled as one of Ubisofts premiere titles at the Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles on May 12 through 14, 2004.
“With the critical success Far Cry PC generated, we are confident that Far Cry Instincts will be one of Ubisofts most impressive titles this year,” said Tony Kee, vice president of marketing for Ubisoft. “The highly skilled development team, comprised mainly of the talent behind the original Splinter Cell, plans to further cement Far Cry Instincts position as one of Ubisofts marquee brands.”
Just as Far Cry redefined the FPS genre on the PC, Far Cry Instincts will introduce wide open environments and unique, immersive gameplay elements that are destined to become the definition of survival action. In addition to the PC versions signature locations, non-scripted A.I., and unprecedented view-distance, Far Cry Instincts will feature all-new gameplay scenarios that will challenge players to utilize an even broader range of strategies and survival tactics to uncover the many secrets within the beautiful-but-deadly islands.
