US Army using Metallica, The Offspring, Thin Lizzy songs against Taliban

According to an Associated Press report, US special forces are using loud music from Metallica, The Offspring and Thin Lizzy to flesh out Taliban insurgents from a desolate farming community in Marjah in Afghanistan’s southern Helmand province.

One special forces officer noted that:

Taliban hate that music. Some locals complain but it’s a way to push them to choose. It’s motivating Marines as well. There are no obscenities but we tell them they’re gonna die.

Along with oppressing women, forbidding television, dancing, hanging pictures, clapping, kite flying, alcohol, television and lobster, the Taliban has a strict ban on music or equipment that produces the “joy of music.”
