ACE Team Software’s Indy Source Title Preps For April 21 Launch
March 19, 2008 â ACE Team Software today announced a special pre-purchase promotion for its upcoming action fighter, Zeno Clash. Now through Friday, March 20th at 8 pm GMT, Zeno Clash will be available for 50% off its regular price for those who pre-purchase the game via Steam, a leading platform for the delivery and management of PC games with over 20 million accounts worldwide, as well as retail outlets around the world.
ACE Team’s debut title, Zeno Clash is an action/fighting game set in a punk fantasy world. The game blends first person action with up close and brutal combat made popular in third person console classics. The game’s art style pushes the boundaries of the Source engine features (the same used to create Left 4 Dead, Team Fortress 2, etc) and represent a departure from the visuals seen in any of today’s games.
“ACE Team’s focus on melee and fighting in a first-person game was a somewhat risky move, but having played the demo of Zeno Clash it appears that their work has really paid off.” said Robin Walker, co-creator of Team Fortress and game designer at Valve. “The art in the game is also an incredible part of the experience — they’ve really achieved something innovative with this title. I look forward to playing the full the game, and whatever they create next.”
Zeno Clash features Steamworks integration for copy protection, player statistics and Steam Achievements. “Using Steamworks and Source has allowed us to create a game that has captured the attention of the independent gaming competition judges and soon launch to millions of gamers around the world,” said Andres Bordeu, co-founder at ACE Team. “As independent game developers having tools that help streamline the development costs and resources, such as those offered in Steamworks and the Source, are incredibly important.”
After the initial 24-hour sale, from March 20 through launch on April 21st, the punk-fantasy themed action fighter will be available for pre-purchase via Steam for 25% off the regular price.
