Tom Delonge sheds messiah complex, reveals drug abuse in MTV article

Tom DeLonge has talked to MTV’s Buzzworthy about Angels and Airwaves‘ new album I-Empire. In the interview he talks about his messiah complex.

I was like, “If God came down I really, truly believe it wouldn’t be bigger than this record.” [Laughs.]

It’s all behind me. But the documentary will shed a lot of light onto the meaning of this band and what we’re trying to accomplish and how it all stemmed from the breakup of Blink-182.

Apparently the singer/songwriter still has not talked to his former Blink182 bandmates and that I-Empire was the first time in nearly five years that he had sung sober, having been abusing pain relievers since breaking his back. He blames the aforementioned messiah-istic tendencies on said habit.
