Cheeky and Pregnant ready releases on Don Giovanni Records

Don Giovanni has two new records on the horizon. First up will be the debut LP from Cheeky. The band recently joined the Art of the Underground Singles Series and released Choke On A Cheeseburger via Quote Unquote Records last year.

Chuck Ragan, Ben Nichols, Tim Barry: “Revival Road”

Chuck Ragan, Ben Nichols of Chuck Ragan and Tim Barry have collaborated on a new track together titled “Revival Road.” The song was recorded at Adorea Studios on 10/12/08, Engineered and mixed by Travis Bell in Hamden, CT. It features playing and singing by everyone on that leg of the tour which also included Frank Turner, Digger Barnes, Jon Gaunt and Todd Beene.

Tours: Constantines (Canada, US, Mexico)

Toronto’s Constantines are headed south soon. The band will play their first apperance in Mexico at the Manifest Festival in Mexico City. They’ll follow that with southern Ontario dates and a tour of the northeastern United States. The trek will feature apperances on select dates by Tim Fite and later Obits (Rick Froberg of Hot Snakes and Drive Like Jehu). Fite recently sampled the Cons on the song “Sing Along” from his new record Fair Ain’t Fair.

The band will release a new 7″ this fall for the song “Our Age” from Kensington Heights. It will feature a Winnipeg-recorded cover of Neil Young‘s “Fuckin’ Up” as the b-side. A video for the song was recently unveiled, directed by George Vale and Broken Social Scene‘s Kevin Drew.

The Cons were also recently featured in a book of photography by Jeremy R Jansen. CON/LADY/08 features shots of the band’s North American tour with Ladyhawk from this past summer.

Rise Against: “Making Christmas”

A video for Rise Against‘s contribution to the recently announced Nightmare Revisited compilation is available online. The band, along with Tiger Army, Flyleaf, Korn, Marilyn Manson, Shiny Toy Gun and others are covering tracks from Danny Elfman’s score to 1993’s Nightmare Before Christmas. The compilation is the second set of recordings associated with the film. A previous set of covers coming in 2006 and featuring takes by Fall Out Boy and Panic At the Disco.

Warship (ex-From Autumn to Ashes) give away debut album

Warship Warship, the new project from Francis Mark and Rob Lauritsen of From Autumn To Ashes, have opted to give away the entirety of their debut full length, Supply and Depend, for a limited time. The band draws comparisons to “ Illusion of Safety / Artist in the Ambulance-era Thrice mixed with the raw, dissonant punk attack of a slightly toned-down Dillinger Escape Plan or Don The Reader.

Buzzcocks to reissue early records

Manchester, UK’s Buzzcocks will be reissuing their first three full length albums via EMI starting October 27th. The list includes Another Music In A Different Kitchen, Love Bites, and A Different Kind of Tension. Each reissue will have “two discs per reissue full of associated singles, demos, live versions, backing tracks, and Peel sessions, some of which are previously unreleased.”

The band previously released Flat-Pack Philosophy in 2006 through Cooking Vinyl.
